Does anyone know what the rules are regarding blood?

twice in 3 weeks opposition players have had blood on them(easily visible from the sideline) and it hasn't been addressed by the ref.

I'd suggest someone at your club address it with Subbies and the referees coordinator during the week. It may be something that they need to have go out as a general reminder for all refs.

pfitzy. do you see rouse hill lasting the year? does the club talk to tim richards much?

Every week. Asked for fifth Division two weeks out from the start of season. Board "didn't want to upset Fourth Division" apparently. Warned them that it was all they could expect if they didn't listen to me.

Things got slightly optimistic for a couple of weeks, then yesterday guys just didn't show up.

So fuck optimism. Right now we'll be lucky to run a grade the rest of the year.

do you and the boys look forward to weekends sort of thing??

I don't, personally. My week is spent trying to get the club just moving in the right direction.

The boys - and I use that term loosely because our average age at the moment must be pushing 33 - love playing, but the concept of 2 games per week against teams like Canterbury isn't good for anyone's mental health.

Mate please don't take this the wrong way, but do you expect any different?

It's rare in my experience, for a club to take pity on a struggling clubs.

Its not the club, just certain players. Like the cock muncher who dropped his knees into one of my second rowers and then got pissed off he was yellow-carded for it. Prick was lucky it wasn't red.

I don't want their pity. But what fucking difference will it make if its 90-zip or 40-zip? They got their 5 points. Points differential only matters if they weren't good enough to get into finals contention.

I could have forfeited and given them 28-nil.

Therefore those few players of theirs who bitched at the ref all day, despite being under no pressure, who didn't spend a cent at my canteen, and then fucked off home straight after the game can, in my learned opinion, go fuck themselves.

i am guessing you have tried everything. have you suggested the idea of forfeiting 1s for the rest of the year(if this was done at the halfway point it would be equitable for everyone). Maybe you could put a team in 2s only. and forfeit the other two grades. didnt penrith do this years ago, maybe 2

or could you get a halligans team like dundas to replace u in 1s for the rest of the year. they get there guaranteed game then

Yeah I've given the Dundas thing a bit of consideration. Means they don't have to fart around getting games together, and we can put 2s on the field with maybe the possibility of 3s later in the year.

At this point we've paid our money for two grades so we'll do our best to continue that.

Colleagues a lot. Waverley not many.

I caught most of this game. A fairly entertaining affair and probably a little closer than the scoreline indicates. A few observations:

1. Waverley aren't that far off the pace. The bounce of the ball and few calls didn't not go their way.

2. Colleagues were a cut above in the contact zone. Really dominated the breakdown and the tackle.

3. Colleagues 5/8 - think it is still DK really controlled the game a lot better than his opposite and the tries flowed from there.

This. We all know that subbies refs give their saturday arvos so we can play. So of course they're going to miss hand in the ruck, backs creeping up at the line out, or the ball being taken back into the 22 (especially when those awful soccer markings are on the field as well). But I do get shitty at safety stuff.

Especially the blood rule, scrums, and high tackles. We accept the broken collar bone, torn hammy, or a few broken ribs are part of the territory, but not brain or spine injury. Or bloodborne disease.

I believe it was Wests and Petersham.

Always the potential for some angst particulary if the player is of Shute Shield quality. West Harbour are doing alright this year and may worry that you lose one then others may follow. I'm assuming the player is going from grade to subbies?

Div 4:

SYDNEY HARLEQUINS v Mac Uni - the students will travel, but still not have quite enough class to overcome the Quins, injured though the home side may be

Rouse Hill v BLACKTOWN - we'll be a bit better for numbers than last week, but we're still running very few First Grade quality players. I'll be playing prop, and probably the full game if the shoulder holds up.

Briars v SYDNEY IRISH - this should be a heck of a game, with both sides very skilful and fast, but Irish should have the better set piece.

OATLEY v Canterbury - match of the round. Big, bruising blend of all types of player and the medics better be on their game. Canterbury are probably the closest to troubling Oatley of the teams I've seen so far, and its not a big trip for them to HV Evatt, but I reckon the results Oatley have posted so far will allow them to contain the Berries.

Pfiztytell me about Mac Uni. Yeah after year they struggle and appear to get belted each week but continue to put out teams. I this a club of 19 year olds that get replenished each year by new young ones.

I had a chat to one of their longer stayers a couple of years back. Some of them are students, but about half (anecdotally) are locals or guys who went to Uni there and stayed in Sydney, so keep playing there.

A couple of my guys went over there this year and I caught up with one of them recently - it all comes down to the culture. They're not worried about the scoreboard, and the guys are from all walks of life and all backgrounds, nations etc. They pick up the odd bloke studying from overseas, hence the odd Pacific Islander there. Lot of mutual respect for each other.

They have a lot of new blokes come through each year, and even though they've only got them for a few years at most, like any Uni club they make it work through a lack of other responsibilities ;)

Getting the support of the student union and a decent facility to play on is also a good platform I suppose.

I hear next year, due to Macquarie Uni changing colours, they'll be playing in pink :D

The call has gone out for more referees - might go along so I can be backup ref. When I'm not playing all fucking day, I might add.
