We need to retain a lot of our current players. We have a good group of new/young players with the potential to become a very good team. As Wessels said at the Members forum a team needs to retain combinations from one season to the next in order to improve and become a winning team.
A lot of players are off contract this year, I wonder when we will hear news of player contracts being signed?

Had a realisation during the Canes game that I prefer watching the Force play over any other team in Australian rugby.

Changed my little Super team logo.

I see seriously good things developing in this team. Bring on next year.

Good stuff mate, that's what I have always thought, we may lose quite a bit but bloody hell we have heart (usually) and the results really don't give us the credit we deserve.

It's amazing that with one season of the ARU supporting us we have become such a good team to watch. Imagine if they gave a shit since 2006 how good we would be.

But you need to retain the right ones as the Rebels show every year

we're not totally blameless in that department either. we persisted with wykes for years too long!

I fear that the dates for this arbitration shit are going to be debilitating to the chances the force have next year - even if we do survive, and by extension to the rebels if we don't.
player's cant wait or all the spots will be taken, that's the simple fact. What's the point in having a 2018 team if we've regressed 5 years developmentally anyway.

If by the grace of whomever you pray to we manage to survive and keep the core lads we're hoping to. I think we'll go alright - something is building and it doesn't show any of the signs of abruptly stopping from one year to the next like it did under Foley. But that's not totally in our control at the moment so i'll continue to be pissed off & swapping between "we're f**ked" and "we're all good"

Geez, You have as many off contract as the Rebels do, might have to combine the remnants if the majority take up other "options" - South Western Forceful Rebels, playing out of Adelaide

Well, all you Force Fans, I 'm sure you've seen The Whole Force's efforts to raise money for Own the Force, RugbyWA Juniors and The Future Force Foundation through our Bumper sticker campaign. If you'd like one, send me a Private Message and I'll send you details on how to get one or two. All but one Premier grade club, and most Championship clubs are participating. Even if the worst happens, all your money will be going towards the future of Rugby in WA and not those scumbags in Sydney

Western Force speedster Curtis Rona's manager says he has no intention to return to the NRL with the Wests Tigers.

Western Force outside back Curtis Rona is keeping his sights on a Wallabies berth and has no plans to leave the vulnerable Super Rugby franchise for the NRL's Wests Tigers, his manager says.
Rumours Rona was set to join the Tigers were sparked when an apparent social media post by the speedster with the words "on the bus" were circulated.
The bus reference could be interpreted as alluding to comments by the NRL club's coach Ivan Cleary, who used it as a metaphor when discussing players' commitment earlier this year.
But manager Steve Gillis denied Rona was looking to leave the Force as they await an Australian Rugby Union decision that could axe them from Super Rugby.
"There's been absolutely no discussion whatsoever (about joining the Tigers)," Gillis told AAP.
"He's under contract. So until we know anything different, nothing changes. He's very happy in rugby and doing well.
"We anticipate he'll play for the Wallabies this year. So there's plenty of positives.
"We were hoping he'd get there (in the current Wallabies squad) but I think he accepts that well and is pushing forward and hopefully makes the next one."
Rona, who has played some wing this season but spent most of his time at outside centre, has been one of the Force's best players.
The 25-year-old joined the Perth-based side on a two-year deal after switching from NRL team Canterbury at the end of last year.
He has previously said he would be open to a rugby league return if his Super Rugby career failed, but hoped he could stay with the Force in his hometown.

even if he's given them a letter of intent he is still contracted with the force next year.

So a fair few key retentions needed there.
We need to sign up asap Coleman, Taf, Daley, Faulkner, Philip, Daley, Vui, Arnold, Louwrens, Hardwick, Ruru, Burton, Lance and Peni.
Cut free Grant (he has been good, but as a marquee time to move on). Not sure about Hodgson. Terrific leader but I expect him to retire. Stander I am undecided about.

Verity-Amm and Newsome would be great to sign up to cover Morahan and Masewari. So provided we can sign up the bulk of the squad, there wont be too much on the shopping list. Maybe a prop and flyhalf?

From todays West Australian;

Players put faith in Western Force’s survival

WESTERN Force players are putting aside the drama surrounding the club's future and backing their Super Rugby survival.
The Force have 12 players currently contracted for next season or beyond while a further 11 have verbally agreed to new deals.
Get in The Game

Footy Tipping and Fantasy competition with $150,000 in prizes up for grabs!
The Force signed 37 players including their extended player squad this season and expect to make a number of announcements on player recruitment in the next few days.
The ARU lifted a three-month national contracting moratorium two weeks ago.
Meanwhile the Rebels, the other side under threat of extinction, have stepped up their campaign for survival with the ARU confirming the club had given them "notice for mediation".
The Force are going to arbitration with the ARU after serving a writ on the governing body, claiming a clause in their alliance agreement guarantees a side in Perth through the current broadcasting deal that ends in 2020.
The WA Government has backed the club saying it will seek to enforce the agreement terms.
There are reports that the Rebels could pursue the ARU for millions of dollars damages particularly after owner Andrew Cox refused an offer from the governing body to buy the licence back.
It is not yet known when the Rebels hearing will be held but if any decision goes against the ARU they could face the embarrassment of telling SANZAAR they cannot cut their teams from five to four under the plan to shrink the completion from 18 to 15 clubs.
One of the Force players contracted for next season, outside back Curtis Rona, was rumoured to be heading back to the NRL with Wests-Tigers but his management say he has no plans to leave and has his sights firmly on the Wallabies.
Rona's manager Steve Gillis said there had been no discussions about his return to rugby league, he was happy at the Force and was hoping to make the Wallabies squad.
Rona, 25, returned to Perth this season where he started his union career before switching to rugby league.
The former Canterbury Bulldog said he could be open to a return to the NRL but only if the Force is axed from Super Rugby next season.
Winger Luke Morahan and fringe players, outside back Semisi Masirewa and prop Francois van Wyk are the only three to have signed for other clubs next season.
