It is
It's OK mate I just see the weight of the world on the shoulders of those Boys in the losing team when the game finishes. The expectations of the schools in this comp are very intense.

Agree absolutely - far too intense in fact. Members of this forum have made the point in the past that they're just kids! This w/e saw Knox, a very good side, get beaten by Barker, a "very very" good side, and not by much! I don't believe it's cause to examine Knox's rugby program...!

Brooks only chance at winning a game this season didn't go as they would've liked. As left right out already said they started strong but it just got worse as the game went on. Certaintly didn't have the defensive effort they had against Knox, they missed a lot of 1 on 1 tackles which led to easy tries like the one straight off the kick off. Aloys played well as a team with lots of offloads and support. Smith played well scoring their only try under the sticks making it 45-7. Year 10 boys, O'Reilly came off the bench just after half time followed by Hayman and Pakutoa about 10 mins after. They definitely helped but it just wasn't enough to bring them back in to it. Next season will be a lot better for the brook boys. Full credit to Aloys great performance, crowd was definitely a factor.

Disappointing. I hoped for a win or at least a closer score...
Next year for Brook then.
But well done to Aloys, they were obviously up for it.

For me the highlight of the season has been that it hasn't been a two horse race.the last nearly ten years has been a two/one horse race. Hopefully this means the CAS comp is on the improve.

2018: Barker/Waverley/Aloysius/Knox
2017: Waverley/Knox/Barker
2016: Waverley/Knox
2015: Knox/Aloysius
2014: Knox/Cranbrook
2013: Barker
2012: Barker
2011: Trinity/Barker
2010: Barker/Waverley

I disagree with this, this year barker have not been up there with Knox and Waverley. Now for 2018 Aloysius will not be a strong competitor and with the Waverley 16s who are quite weak coming through that won't give the Waverley side a lot of depth. Cranbrook 16s coming through are quite strong which will help so it would be good to see what they can do for the year 11 cranbrook boys who are just terrible. I believe Knox will take the premiership next year, strong year 11s and strong 16s coming through

Surely a joke? Barker beat knox and narrowly lost to waverley. No matter the result against waverley next week they will either tie or beat knox in the competition. I do agree that Brook will be the underdogs of next year for sure.

Barker beat Knox and lost to Waverley by 1. They have been up there. With 8 back, they are the team to beat. The likes of Reimer, Flaherty, Pollard, Kitchener will Be some of their strongest players since the 2010- 2013 Barker dominant era.

The Waverley team left over next year is their undefeated 16a's that beat Knox by 50 twice in 2016. Their year 12's will be very strong. (Moretti, Murphy, Molloy, Whiteman, Andrews, Tomasiello, Baldwin, Towns)

Knox will be the weakest they have been for three years, McInerny at 10, Trobec in the backrow. No set piece dominance that they have relied on for years. Cameron will be their best attacking weapon and he has struggled to make a mark this year. Their u16's are strong, but their year 12 group is weak. The best player in the team will be Kennedy, it's hard to build a game around a hooker. 2018 will be more of a rebuild for Knox.

Aloysius will be the strongest they have been since 2015. Their u16's last year were second only to Waverley. They have a 2, 7, 10 and dominant 12 to build the team around them. Westbury will be CAS 15, Rahme is a CAS backrower, pollack and Disano are genuine players.

Cranbrook may have one good year, but the other schools have lots of good years around their years to make them much more difficult to defeat. Can those good u16 Cranbrook players from this year, beat a Waverley team that will have 5 back from the firsts and nearly the whole seconds team that has won the comp? Unlikely.

Can they beat a Barker outfit with 8 firsts players back? Not a chance.

McInerney isn't playing anymore due to concussion

If I was to predict the next five years comp winners it would be:

2018 Barker
2019 Trinity (Current 15a's undefeated leaders, but can be caught, only winning by tight margins) Aloysius could be the potential other winners.
2020 Waverley (Current 14a's undefeated leaders winning by 40+ each game)
2021 Waverley (Current 13a's undefeated leaders-winning by 40+ each game)

That's based on current results in the various year groups but doesn't take into account new students that are brought in for various schools. We can see the impact that has had with Barker with the likes of Pollard.

I am not sure if Kyle is an import in the strict sense as he is Mattie Coghill's cousin so there is family history with the school, Matt being an original.

Barker will go undefeated next year mark my words. Aloys will be competitive along with Knox. Can't see any other teams really challenging imo.

I would argue to say that Barker are playing the best rugby in the CAS at the moment, seen in the last two games, their ability to retain the ball and build pressure for multiple phases looks like rugby played years out of school. Their defence has also looked very strong against Knox and Waverley, very organised and clinical although they might not have the program or rep players of other teams they seem to play above their weight together.
Prediction for next week: Waverley over Knox by 2 in a thriller
Barker over Cranbrook by 40+
Trinity over Aloys by 10

They have been playing well. And have continued to grow.

But last week they had 70% possession and managed to score less than their opposition. That means they only defended for 30% of the game and let in more points than their opposition.

They have definitely played well, but if Waverley had that much ball, it wouldn't have been the pick and drive marathon on show.

The team playing the best rugby at the moment? The team leading the comp.
