Apparently there's a group looking to spend $2.7 billion on building the necessary infrastructure in preparation for the planned 2020 of a US based T20 league.

The plans feature 8 locations. These are Atlanta, NY, NJ, Washington DC, Illinois, Dallas-Fort Worth, Florida and California.

Each project will involve stadiums worth between $75-120m to build plus facilities.

$2.7Bn for cricket in the USA, even if it's T20 rather than real cricket, is just mind-boggling. Would that make it bigger in $ terms than IPL?

No idea. But apparently the market exists. According to one article I read the US had the 2nd highest viewership numbers of the last CWC outside of India.

I lived in the US with a group of Aussies for a period of time and when we played a game of cricket in the street or car park Indians and Pakistani Americans would stop and come over and play. There are about 6million in the US apparently.

You'd assume they'd have performed the necessary market research to determine its viability. I did read that Atlanta has a surprisingly vibrant Cricket league.
