This should shut Dyer up:

I'd imagine there's some relief at CA HQ, looks very much like they left themselves open to being challenged on their processes which could have voided the (correct IMO) sanctions they arrived at.

I think they should have appealed, being banned from Aus domestic cricket is overly harsh. Bans from International cricket and leadership roles was fair enough, if maybe a little long. Looks like they will spend 12months playing overseas.

Although domestic cricket doesn't start until October, so the domestic bans are automatically reduced to 6 months and 3 months respectively. The way that Sheffield Shield has been programmed recently, Bancroft will miss at most half of the games and be able to play at least the second part of the season and the final if WA make it. Smith and Warner miss most of the season - possibly could play in the final if NSW make it and maybe even the last round.

Did the bans start from the fourth test? If so that would rule them out for the whole domestic Summer.

Such a load of shit. Every other country in the world give their players slaps on the wrist and we go off our nut and blow our left leg off.

Not saying it will happen, but won't be surprised if the three are quietly allowed back into domestic cricket at some level before their respective penalty terms are up. Has just been too much reaction against the severity of the penalties, especially in light of actions taken by other nations, and I expect there will be some furious lobbying going on behind the scenes.

^^^^^^ it wouldn't surprise me if say half the sentence gets suspended at some point so they can play domestically in Australia.

Thanks to CA taking such a strong position the days of slap on the wrist penalties will soon be over, plus from now on CA can actually talk about the spirit of Cricket, lines that shouldn't be crossed, etc without being seen as complete hypocrites.

I have my doubts.

Ball tampering has now been acknowledged as happening over a period of time and the world officials have, if not condoned it, essentially turned a blind eye to it occurring. Sort of puts the CA over-reaction into some perspective.

It will be interesting to see just how they define ball tampering and how long it will take players to work out ways around the defined actions. It is terribly hard to define an offence in specific terms without actually limiting its interpretation. And by all reports, where even club players are routinely involved in altering the ball, new ways will be developed and will filter up to the international arena as players move up over time.

Speaking of cheating, what happened to the investigation into bat sizing and it's effect on the game? I thought they were reducing bat sizes?

Devil's advocate: legalise most types of ball tampering (bar the blatant ones such as biting & picking at the seam) to help counter batsman domination

Depends when the final is scheduled, but even if that is so it still makes the ban an effective 6 months for Warner and Smith and 3 months for Bancroft as there is no Australian domestic cricket until October.

To think that only a couple of weeks ago the Commonwealth Bank didn't want to be associated with Steve Smith and ball tampering.;)

The commission has been told advisers at a CBA financial planning business continued to charge fees to customers they knew had died, including one instance where fees were charged for more than a decade.

The evidence about Count Financial is far from the only instance of fees for no service at the Commonwealth Bank.
Yesterday, the royal commission heard CBA would be the "gold medallist" among the financial institutions, after having to refund more than $100 million for fees charged for no service.
