From an employer perspective, the next challenge is how to word a contract that allows dismissal in similar circumstances without having to pay severance. I assume the proposed legislation is designed to prevent that, at least in this context. It's going to be an interesting space to watch...
The contract was $5.7M right? And already a bunch of that would have been paid before the saga. If they've paid out the remainder, roughly half of $8M is probably pretty close to the mark. Although it is still reading more like a guess than a leak.

Who knows. I imagine he'd still get some outlandish amount wherever he ended up if he opted to come back, but as you say it doesn't look like it will be in Australia.
