On this rationale a team could finish 7th or 8th, beat Parra, Penrith, Wests, Gordon and Easts. A players gets 3 points in every one of these games as likely they will score tries / points, pick up a couple in the remaining 13 rounds and win the Catchpole as the best player in the comp?

Not doubting that but, is Dave the best player in the comp? Its a flawed system. Daniel Halangahu was the best most influential player in the competition for 10 years during Unis run but never polled well. Maybe the players should vote at the end of the year? Not sure the answer.

Awards are always interesting at this time of year. If you went to every coach in the Shute Shield and said "you can have one player from another club" I would imagine Lucas, Holloway, Volovola, Roach, would feature prominently. Horwitz a good player, but not the best across the competition. I...

Sitting around wanting uni to get worse is not the answer. Frankly they won't and if any other club in the comp had their resources they would be doing exactly the same thing. My greatest concern is where to all the kids who leave colts at Uni end up? Surely they don't all filter into grade...

Lets see how things pan out, break away comps and forfeiting seem a way off yet. The Woodies and Marlins probably fancy their chances but more than likely Uni will win. Not sure the current proposal for 2014 helps any club bridge the gap to uni in the future and in fact the gap will widen with...

Manly won all games comfortably. The first grade game was willing but both teams have a stack to work on. Handling was poor, Manly forwards will be a handful this year with Fairbrother, Marakai, Ale, Sigg, Taione, Aholelei, Peterson, Gower, Reid et al in the mix.

Pure fantasy. By this logic the St Hilliers scholarship at Randwick cost 50k per year and uni must be spending in excess of 6 Mil each year on colts. Fanciful. The reality is all players got offered more to go to the Rats than Manly (cash), ever stop to think ICMS is a sponsor of Manly? Perhaps...
