Interestingly this article seems to imply otherwise: http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-union/union-news/reece-robinson-could-be-waratahs-secret-weapon-in-south-africa-20170226-gulje3.html
with only 13/27 in the NRL.
Agreed. I'm almost less worried since the people who weren't performing were the big names. We know they're quality, and they can come good. I think the fact some less ingrained players like Louwrens, Latu and Skelton were playing well is a good sign. If both teams can get some of their stars...
He definitely didn't look the goods, but the Tahs backline in general looked very average. Phipps looked a bit lost while he was on and Hegarty looked out of place. Horne was probably the best of the backs and still didn't light things up really.
Skelton seems to be playing the more all round game people have been wanting from him. Still not taking mass numbers of lineouts but has looked pretty consistently solid.
Just took a quick gander at that site and noticed a couple of interesting things about Bernard Foley's kicking.
Most of his kicks have been taken from the left side of the field in the Rugby Championship (not necessarily surprising, he's a right footed kicker)
A lot more kicks were taken from...
He's still not good, but I feel like he's improved in this area a lot this year. I wouldn't say I have confidence in him doing it with limited space at 12 though.
Warning: pure speculation ahead.
I imagine that for most players good enough to get an ARU top-up, going to the Force will be a pay cut (or at least a sideways pay movement, which considering the long move might be seen as a negative). Even if the club can pay them more, their opportunity for...
I don't think points on the table are any fairer than group winners for most cases. It will very much punish highly competitive conferences, and you could envisage scenarios in which none of the best 5 teams in the comp make the finals (e.g. if NZ teams all beat each other). The conference...
Sorry, I take it back, it is completely unsubstantiated that the whole squad respects Pocock, there may be one or more players who do not respect him, and I do not take any position on how many that may or may not be.
It can definitely work, it's just a consideration. In terms of respect, I have no doubt everyone in the squad respects him. Respect doesn't necessarily equal like though.
I think that having your best player as the captain isn't always a good idea either, as it can be a distraction. Obviously YMMV though. The other vibe that I've gotten is that he's not that well liked by some of the playing group. Obviously I have nothing to cite in that regard and I may be off...
I feel like Folau takes a lot more high balls when he's playing well than Beale did this morning. I doubt that's because they kick to him more often, but rather I feel like it's because he makes sure he's there to take them, whether it's through positioning or just confidence he'll always take...
They're 2/4 when making it to the QF, while SA is 3/5. That's an interesting stat. For comparison Australia is 5/7, Scotland 1/6, NZ is 6/7, France is 6/7, Argentina 1/3 and Ireland is 0/5
