    2018 schools rowing

It is rather pointless trying to deny the Jennings factor, simply looking at statistics he has coached winning crews since 2008 with the exceptions being 2011 and as pointed out 2015. However in both these years Shore placed in the top 3 against exceptional crews in Grammar and Joeys...

on a side note was the Joeys VIII lateness to the start a tactic encouraged by Shirlaw and Sarah Cook or just tardiness ?

That 2nd 8 race in 2014 was made more memorable by KT throwing his bike into the course with 200m left. Still chuckle about that to this day. But yes I concur having coaches stay for a number of years builds culture that has allowed schools to dominate particular decades. For instance in the...

    NSW AAGPS 2017

No doubt they were pleased. The celebration after the Riverview win had me convinced they'd won the premiership. However I am unsure if a stronger year group has been confused with development of the coaching process as the team had the cattle to do much better than they did. Therefore in losing...

Different for each school. Off the top of my head sporting commitment for year 12 isn't compulsory for Iggies and Shore whilst it is for Joeys.

In year 12 sport is not compulsory providing students extra time to study. However before then it is expected student must participate in both a summer and winter sport unless under exceptional circumstances. Therefore these 2 students leaving are under no obligation to continue rowing however...

Will Shore retain their coaches ? If the Australian media thinks Cheika should step down after 2nd in the world cup surely the Shore community would expect more from the current coaching staff. Although I do hear nothing changes at Shore.

JM Quad through to semi's but will have to improve to challenge the likes of Germany. The JW IV also through to semi's, whilst the JM IV didn't look great burning out in the last 500m

Unrelated of course it was great to see the Mens Quad and IV get silver medals respectively whilst Kim Brennan took the Gold. Cameron Girdlestone in the Quad was indeed a product of King's rowing being in the extremely quick 2004 boat coxed by Nick Phipps. Also looking forward to the upcoming...

What prediction ? Also with the season beginning earlier can we expect some schools to enter earlier regattas that do not go towards the point score ?

I'd disagree, going merely off the schools news letters shore trained 3 days in the mid season holiday of 3 weeks. Whilst this may or may not be complacency it does not compare well to the other schools training schedules. Happy to be proven wrong however.

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2016

I was at Kings watching the cross country and then moved to Shore for the soccer and rugby. In my opinion the Shore grounds faired better.

Shore spent money implementing a new drainage system on North bridge A last year. I think you'd find the ground compares favourable to other GPS grounds and specifically on the weekend was much better than the grounds at Kings and Riverview.

The cost of having young coxswains I would suggest. Perhaps it may prove an advantage as Id assume their 8's coxswains would have at least 1 if not 2 more years in opens rowing and would have gained invaluable albeit expensive experience.
