Are you sure the breakage rule has been abolished ? I was under the impression that for any breakage (even a poor start, as seen in the past) crews can stop before the 250m mark and have the race re-started. Thanks, LR

LBA, a 5:59 is very impressive for the first regatta of the season. I think your a very delusional man or woman or schoolboy if you think that anyone will get even close to touching this Shore crew this year, with 2nd place on the weekend 9 seconds off them. Sure the season has a beginning...

I think it's safe to say that Shore have put down all the early season criticism with that time of 5:59. Jennings has stuck with his tactics and it seems to be working once again. Does anyone know what happened to Iggies and Scots?

    2016 Schools rowing

Well said behindtheshed. Have to admit as well, Head of the Parra isn't a real good way to gauge anything for the season. It would be nice however to see more schools enter it; I remember a few years ago it was Shore, Grammar, Newington and Kings. I don't think there would be anything more...

Shore seem to have reclaimed their dominance in the fours.

    2016 Schools rowing

Just got back from viewing the Kings vs Newington match race over the Downer Cup. It was a clean sweep for Kings, winning 5 from 5 (1st 8, 2nd 8, 1st 4, 2nd 4, 3rd 4), with crews starting from inside Homebush bay and finishing at Kissing Point Wharf. The Kings IV's reminded me of a time a...

    2016 Schools rowing

Sorry for my absence on the forum, I've been busy pursuing my coaching career at a school I cannot name. However, I have read all this chat and would like to give a prediction for who will take the cake this year. I am also predicting this crew to be somewhere around the 6min flat mark at the...

    2016 Schools rowing

I'll have to disagree with you on that one. State and National Regatta's are very popular amongst all rowing clubs and schools, and I don't see what's to stop coaches or directors of rowing from going up to that certain club or school and be interested in a particular rower. I mean if you look...

    2016 Schools rowing

From what I have heard around, their isn't a "rule" but rather a gentlemen's agreement for when it comes to winter rowing. Like you said it has become more common in the recent years, however a strong presence of schoolboys have been rowing out of clubs for as long as I can remember...

Hi Nateellis, I am familiar with the Morgan Legacy that was left at Newington, and am wondering if you could inform me on what exactly he will be doing back at the shed. Thanks, LR

Recently saw a Newington VIII out on the water last weekend. Not sure if it was a scratch 1st VIII or just a mix crew getting some early km's in. Anyone else see any other crews out on the water?
