Was it that long ago when kids went to a school and played their hearts out for THEIR school, played with their mates and win , lose or draw were proud to be part of that school? When did "recruitment" become a priority? When did winning a 6 team competition become the major goal of a school?
Just an honest viewpoint. I have only seen Barker and Waverley play once this year and both games were against Aloys. The Waverley game was very close and easily could have gone either way. However, whilst Aloys were very courageous in the first half, the Barker boys turned it on and came away...
enjoy D.H., look forward to your updates .......... and what a shame even the boys won't have an opportunity to support their mates. I wish those playing all the best.
I always look forward to the CAS v GPS clash. Its a wonderful opportunity for the players to display their talents and also allows the many supporters of schoolboy rugby to watch what is always a high quality game. However, this year with the game being played at 3.00 on a Tuesday, there will be...
well sometimes u have got to have a go .. Wav 38 barker 12 .. more than happy to have egg on face ... won't be the first time .(have seen both and no bias but waverley v v good)
I was at the Aloy's v Waverley game on Saturday watching the game with about 25 old boys from the Aloysius and Waverley sides from 1979. (after a great lunch).
Waverley have an outstanding side. They are very direct but can move it wide when they need to and have the benefit of size and speed...
tough start for the Aloys boys coming up against Waverley first up and at Death Valley and considering the Wavs results against the GPS schools it looks like a big ask. But i know the boys will give it their best and they will have a dozen really "old boys" cheering them on.
