That's good for Barker. Beating Joeys is never bad. But bear in mind that Joeys treat trials as trials - they experiment a lot to sift through all their players. So the Joeys you beat in a trial in March may be nothing like the Joeys team that takes the field at crunch time in May.

    Best game of Edmed's life.

Not really sure what this means. Do Grammar and High "fit in"? Also, Shore last won the 1st XV competition outright in 1969 (although they have shared a couple of premierships since then), and they have been weak for a number of years - do they "fit in"? How about Newington, who have strong...

So, you admit that Knox is better than 20% of the GPS program. So why not replace the two GPS schools who don't take Rugby seriously, with two who do? Then you'd be at 100%.

Sigh. I know, I know, it's a losing battle. But I was at Lyon to watch the Wallabies play their worst game ever against Wales, and I left believing more strongly than ever that the structure of our game needs work. Take a look at schoolboy rugby in, say, Auckland and you'll see that the...

I think you'll find that Knox has as many sides as, say, Shore. The point is to get evenly matched teams playing each other throughout the grades as far as possible. That doesn't happen now, or Grammar's 1sts wouldn't play Kings' 1sts - for example. The point is to let schools like Grammar...

RIP Neil ("Harpo") Marx, the outstanding batsman for NSW and Northern District of the 1950s, but also, as some may recall, the enthusiastic half back for the 1956 Barker 1st XV, and a lifelong supporter of Barker Rugby.

This is total bollocks. First: what's the great tradition you're referring to? The one where King's 1sts play Grammar's 3rds? Yep, that's a beauty. How easy is it to schedule games when all the GPS schools field different numbers of teams? The whole point of the mooted tiering structure is...

Yes. I have been banging on about this for years. We need a properly structured, tiered competition, not a grouping based on events that occurred 100 years ago because "tradition". Rugby in this country faces existential challenges and the private schools are its strongest nursery. It needs...

Well done Waverley, an emphatic win today and a deserved unbeaten premiership. I think the order this year was exactly right - Waverley, Knox, Trinity, Barker, Cranbrook, Aloysius (although a few people up near Hornsby may think otherwise). Waverley's muscle in the forwards made all the...

Waverley up 48-3. No changes - these guys want to be there at the end.

Try Waverley from a neat cross kick. Still 12 to go. 41-3.

Slick long range try to Waverley. 34-3. I reckon Waverley has had about 80% possession - forwards just too big and strong
