Doubt it, but maybe he has realised that the 1st VIII is off the pace, and is "blooding'''some of the talented younger blokes who had a really good crack at yr 10's last year.

Still it would be interesting to compare the training load from then, for the 2400mtr race, to todays training for 2000mtr.

Difficult season to manage psychologically, very short, not much racing. NSW school champs on Sunday, one week before GPS, it will be interesting to see who shows-up.

Are there any old View boys out there (or sons of) that can explain what happened at the start of the '78 race?? The commentators blamed View for the 2 false starts!!

He did, but that was only for a couple of training sessions for being lazy!! Very good tactical move by Joey's withdrawing from Saturday's racing, not wasting time on an openwater course to concentrate on the remaining regattas at SIRC.

Always impressed by a crew that can do a quick mid 500, (ie; 750m-1250m), and Joeys look to be doing that, but on the downside, I would never support crew changes, pick your athletes in Nov and stick with them.

Full schoolboy programme at the SBHS regatta (Hen & Chicken Bay, Sat 1st Feb). Hope all schools fully compete, without any foxing, and someone really stamps their authority on the 1st VIII season. Only 6 weeks later the HoTR.

Jim Belshaw, Just an idea, that you might suggest to Mr Guest, considering the logistics, any thought of meeting 1/2 way, and playing, at say Muswellbrook or Scone? It would make it easier as a day trip and hopefully, also easier for both participating school spectators/parents to attend

Love to hear the phone call home, to mum, from one of these players, trying to explain that they have been selected to play RL for their country!
