Gee, we have lost some high profile and regular posters in the last 18 months.

Those are depressing stats. I do not have an adequate response. I became involved because of the thirds and TAS. I consciously promoted the thirds comp and the minnows as a balance to the top focus. Hence my Father Jim nickname. I got a good response and had a lot of fun.

Beginning last year and especially this year commentary has collapsed. This year, for example, I don't think that there has been a single report on High games other than those involving TAS. A few regulars give me scores on some games because they know that I am interested, but that's it.

Is it because of the decline in the top comp and the increased importance of the broader pre-seasons? Like many, I now follow CAS and ISA. I think that's good, but it's come at a cost.

I don't mean to be discouraging or negative. How do we encourage more people to become involved?

I think moving from a 10 game home and away to a 5 game comp has had a big impact.
Last year and this year with the shorter competition are lower.
2016 was actually up on 2014 for posts and close to the same on views.
The pre season trials against CAS and ISA schools don't generate the same level of GPS banter.
I'm still not convinced that we have gained from the inter competition games and shorter GPS competition.

Joker I can confirm that the room with an air conditioning unit and raven door seals at Scots will feature in a promo at half time in the firsts tomorrow .......

Apparently Mason back to 2nds despite his having a blinder. Will be interesting to see the following key match ups:

Savala v Gibbs (10)
Zylstra v Heaven (2)

Harris v Bokenham (8)

Tricks v Scolari (wingers)

Creagh v Rugless (centres)

Mason named at full back in seconds very surprised to see Rugless in over him ...... have to assume Brian has a plan

Last one out, please turn out the lights.

Have to say, there is still way more happening here than on the Colts thread.

Funny, but I would think the CAS thread has picked up over the same time.

It would be cyclical to some degree with Dad's getting involved as their boys play. New ones come and old ones drop off. You get a batch of high level banterers. Then a batch of dullards.

But losing LG and Huge Jarse, the schools threads took a massive hit in activity. Then IS, made it a trifector.

Hopefully 2019 brings some new blood.

I can only assume Scots will try and play more up the middle and don’t need Mason as a second link player. Thought Rugless carried well last week but Joeys will be more sturdy in defence than Shore. Should be an interesting battle.

Hopefully there’s a handful of useful contributions in those ones.

Warm winter’s day forecast and Shore matchimg up against Riverview on Old Boys Day? Reminds me a lot of a similar fixture in 2016.

Hope the ladies of the Shore canteen have plenty of pies. Best in the GPS

Shore often have their best game vs View.

They had 2014 won at View and ref said there was still time left for a kick off.

Somehow View found a way to win well into injury time.

2016 was special, how sole destroying would it have been with that win? And View were the best team on paper that year.

You would have to think Shore have half a chance tomorrow.

It's trifecta, and in reality, none of those are remotely related.
If people stopped ascribing an over-importance to schoolboy rugby, the whole place would be better off. It's supposed to be fun at that level.

Herein lies the problem. We cease to care sbout CHS, GPS, CAS, ISA, ISA 3rd div and we cease to care. The reality is you could look at any thread (eg Tahs 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18) and the numbers are diving. For christs sake even Gagger has given up posting. Anyway off to a site with more varied and witty banter.

It’s not about not caring, it’s about not being feral about schoolboy rugby. More than 90% of reported posts on the site are for schoolboy forums. There is a middle ground. You can care about rugby at any level without making it life and death.
