Problem here is you have one real winger in the squad and three fly halves with JOC (James O'Connor), Beale and arguably Hodge all able to fill that role. Somethings gotta give.

Three 10s in foley, To'omua and lilo. Then three fill ins. You leave someone behind there who can fly in if injury forces it. Or make your coaching staff larger and hodge is your assistant kicking coach who trains with the team!

The logic is that we are only going to pick one specialist winger in the matchday 23 and the other will be a second fullback. Koroibete is that guy. I don't think we can carry another one purely as a backup for him. I wouldn't pick Maddocks and Naivalu or someone else hasn't been around the squad enough to be a chance.

To'omua is a backup 10/12 for a matchday 23 but I don't see him starting in the event that Lilo isn't in the team. I think we will have both Lilo and Foley in the squad. It will be interesting to see whether Lilo is locked in as the 10 after a poor performance in Auckland. I think the original plan prior to the big win in Perth would have been to give Foley the start there with the position still somewhat open.

With JOC (James O'Connor), Beale and Hodge all as starting XV players currently I don't think any of them will be looked at as backup 10s in terms of the overall squad. Clearly they could fill that role in an emergency in game but that's a different thing.

Anyway, two days until we find out.

How about that bloke who just started as the kicker for the SF 49ers? How did we let him go?

Let him go, he was 16 when he gave up contact AFL because of dodgy shoulders, he basically took up pro kick from a young age, and is a product of basically great coaching a scholarship and a big boot. I will say that hit was good, but the dude he hit was 5'7 and his 6'2

Let him go, he was a never was in Aussie sports :)

Thats like being hungry and wondering why you threw out a half eaten subway 12 years ago.....

Edit: and not even a good one. Like a tuna sub or something grot.

List of Australians who can play 6: McMahon, Dempsey, Jones, McCaffrey, Valetini, Samu, Fardy

List of players we choose to play 6: Hanigan, LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto)

Damn McMahon or Fardy would be great about now. Or a fit and firing Dempsey (but he has bit to go to fully recover from injury and get back to form I think).

Bloody hell, calm down America. It was a solid tackle and was made because he lead with a shoulder, put his head to the side and wrapped with his arms. Standard tackle. They're just unaccustomed to non 140kg giants making the collisions whereas our Halfbacks are taught that legs are key.

I reckon they got excited because kickers pretty much never tackle. It wasn’t like he flailed out an arm in a half hearted attempt. He nailed the guy..........even if he is only 77 kg it was pretty impressive.

Don’t think the Wallabies will be naming him on Friday.

Personally I would love to see McAffery or Samu. Can't believe Caff wasn't even in wider squads.

I completely agree. they wasted 3 years persisting with Hanigan and LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto).

Mcmahon a beast but a little short though you'd take him anyways cause of how productive he is.

Fardy would've been solid. not giving jones more time baffles me. Samu should be in there. he went to a wedding. i'd expect most work places are ok with you doing that. it's not like it was the session before the world cup or rugby championship this was by the sounds of it one of the early year sessions.

Here's my squad prediction for Friday.

Prop: Sio, Slipper, AAA, Tupou, Kepu
Hooker: Latu, Fainga'a, TPN
Lock: Arnold, Rodda, Coleman, Simmons
Backrow: Hooper, Naisarani, LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto), Pocock, Jones
Half back: White, Genia
Fly half: Lilo, Foley
Centres: Kerevi, JOC (James O'Connor), TK, To'omua, Petaia
Back three: Beale, Hodge, Koro, Banks, DHP

I reckon this will be pretty close except that LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) will cover lock at Simmons' expense, and 2 of Jones/Samu/Dempsey will go.
