Dear oh dear. Wasn't even close in 1st VIII, bar second race where Auggies came home strongly after Shore eased off in second km. Looked like a fairly strong headwind from the times.

Must have been a big headwind pop up given the disparity between heats and finals. Also a number of schools 2nd vii's beat their 1st vii's pretty comprehensively. Looks really odd but it is early season.

Shore 1st Year 10 VIII, strangely beating there 2nd VIII and falling of 1second to the 1st VIII.

Can confirm that a cross head wind picked up for the final of the 1st and 2nd VIII's, making a significant disadvantage for lanes 6-9

Thought the interesting thing on the weekend is how well St Augs went. Credit to them & great to see rowing thriving !

I agree, it's refreshing for school boy rowing with new kids on the block and they are competitive too. Their Y10 VIII won back to back Gold at Nationals. They are definitely building and seem to have more depth

Interesting results yesterday as the margin between shore and st augs, kings and scots grew smaller from last weeks blowout. Scots 2nd 8 beating their 1st 8 in the final as well in terms of time, whats going of there?

Interesting to see a Cranbrook crew in one race yesterday. Cranbrook used to have a rowing shed in Double Bay, is that still the case?

Rose Bay and it is still there. Scots had the Double Bay shed for their tubs. Google maps indicates a large shed in good condition, so I assume Scots are still using it.
NB Cranbrook competed in the 2nd and 3rd 8’s yesterday with very poor times. Interesting given their Yr 10/11 boys were competitive in the quads.
PS Scots 8 looking good in heat of 1st 8’s with what looked like a tail wind from the times - are they a light crew?

Cranbrook row out of St George shed on Cooks River, but got tubs at Rose Bay. Good on them putting two eights out there. Need to start somewhere.

Yes, there was a light tail breeze. Most importantly it looked fair. View and Kings stepped up big time from last week. Shore still dominant. Auggies hanging around like a bad smell, making podium again.

“Auggies hanging around like a bad smell” - Seriously - says more about the writer of the comment rather than the 9 schoolboys from auggies trying to have a go. It is only school sport at the end of the day.

Indeed - it has been 46 years since a school outside the GPS challenged their supremacy (and won State) - was good then and is good now. Should be good for senior rowing as the Auggie boys are out of the Mosman shed and hopefully more than a few stay there. The Ungemachs are creating a strong legacy.
