A State of Emergency has been declared in the ACT today.

It certainly seems like Saturday and in particular Sunday are the highest risk days from bushfires but certainly has to be worrying for the game tonight.

The wind will be blowing away from the stadium, the issue now is people from the areas at risk will probably stay at home on alert and that is fair enough too.

Assuming most of the smoke is coming from the Orroral Valley Fire, presumably you're relying on there not being a southerly change this afternoon?

Given the forecast for Saturday and Sunday remaining so hot, presumably no southerly change is expected this afternoon.

You are right on the money with with people choosing to say home.

Since 3pm the fire activity has increased significantly and resources are being poured in down south as we speak in preparation.

Is it just me or is January a bit early for the rugby season to start?

I think it's a superior option to having a break in the middle of the season as we have had for years. It is not ideal to be playing Super Rugby on the last day of January but it's also only two weeks earlier than the season normally starts.

And in any case, there would've been a trial on same day/time.

no mid-season break also means the Super Rugby players are sent back to club rugby much sooner, its going to have massive impacts in 2020 having Super Rugby players come back so soon in the club season

And fits with 2021 plans for national club championship to replace nrc

Reds starting a bit mess, JOC (James O'Connor) should have gone for a clearing kick after that knock on, running out of their own half when their were no options on was a mistake

Lucas being a focus in D and doing well. But Reds parked on their line fdor all of the game so far, try Brumbies.
