Rebels 2020

Thanks mate. The membership team said it was mailed a fortnight ago to no avail, and the web-based tickets aren't opening. I'll stroll down pre-game and brave the crowds. Hopefully they're set to manage big numbers....

Is anyone else confused as to why Boyd Killingworth hasn’t been selected yet?
Is he injured?
My opinion is the rebels need a specialist 7 and that’s something they’ve been lacking over the past two weeks.

I've always rated Richard Hardwick, and think you are a better side with him starting.

I've never understood why he hasn't been used as much in his time at the Rebels. Got a couple of Wallaby caps at the Force and then got benched at the Rebels. Was it cause Wessels wanted bigger backrow without a fetcher? I hope he gets a lot more game time this year!

He went through a stage when his penalty to turn over ratio was shocking…which is when he fell out of favour.

However for some reason they never seemed to judge RHP by the same measuring stick! His error/penalty rate is definitely up there.

Ross is a 6.

Good to see pre-season is finally over and we can get stuck into the meat of the year.

Agree,

Back row was a massive improvement on the weekend, conditions were tough but thought the game was not as bad as most are making out. I would not have wanted to try hold onto the ball in contact in those conditions.

This weekend will be interesting, tough one to call playing the Sharks in Ballarat. Hodge will be out, Kellaway to start on the wing and English to the bench.

Good changes. Wonder if they'll stick with the 6-2 bench now that Mr Versatile is hurt?

Friday's game definitely wasn't one for the ages but the conditions were pretty kak and the ball was a hunk of soap, and all that in mind I thought it was a good way to start the weekend.

Kurtley just hates tackling doesn't he? Rebels knew it and had Marika lining him up as often as possible. Also, To'omua put in a very composed shift at 10. I wasn't a fan of the cross-field chips, but his tactical kicking was largely on point in the rain.

Turning point was the series of rolling mauls that just sapped the Tahs.

Great game, roll on Ballarat.

Im guessing they’ll stick with the 6-2 split. Kellaways a good fullback/centre if needed. Expecting to see English on the bench covering wing/centre. And Meakes to get the reigns again if Matt T goes down. There’s plenty of versatility with our backs for sure!

Wasn’t the best spectacle but it was a game that HAD to be won and the lads got it done. Good on ‘em.
A win against the tahs = a great start to the weekend.
Looking forward to Ballarat with some confidence.

What’s wrong with Jordan Uelese? Wish the Rebels did a weekly injury report like the AFL does

Not sure. But I think I remember reading he was 3-4 weeks away?
Agree. An injury report would be good. Someone/somewhere used to do one covering all teams.. I used to look at it when I was doing the fantasy rugby.. I’ll see if I can find it.
I think they said Rangi was a precaution? So should be good to go. Dickie got hooked fairly early so hope he’s alright as well.

I called it in pre-season, and we have seen the top of the ice-berg - but I think Kellaway can be the smartest winger in Australia.

He is still raw, but this is the comp he needs to be playing in to reach his potential. Has Roff qualities in my opinion.

Jeez BS - I rate your opinion but think you're a mile off here. Very happy to be proven wrong though, be great to have two very good wingers.

Kellaway is a much more well-rounded traditional winger. He doesn’t have the size of someone like Taqele or Lam nor the footwork of Kolbe but is a smart player. Whether that is enough to cut it at test level or even be a top Super winger remains to be seen.

Really? I agree with BS, he's coming across as a very composed and clever player. Plenty of skills and speed to burn

Maybe I put too much hope on him when he was with the 'Tahs and haven't properly watched him recently, will watch closer. Doing better than Maddocks anyway!

I always thought he was smaller than he is, his 6 foot according to google. My impressions was he should have been a scrum half, has the speed and skills with the rugby brain. Never really saw him as a out and out winger due to his size.

I'm interested to see how he goes. I watched him at under 20s when he was a try scoring machine, but he failed to impress straight away with the Waratahs before falling out of favour and moving OS
He was young so will be interesting to see if he's improved with age and the experience of a different environment I've liked some of his play so far, but haven't been blown away yet
