Look at what the mumps did for them against the Chiefs..........

They'll be unstoppable after coronavirus hits the camp.

Serious talk that the game in Osaka could either be a) played behind closed doors or b) postponed/off

Wonder if there's a way for bye rounds later on to be utilised to replay the game? Would probably need to include at least one other team in rescheduling to allow the Sunwolves and Brumbies to be free on the same weekend.

Otherwise, would it be possible to play for double points in the Brumbies home game round?

Whatever, with the way the virus is progressing, I think there will be other games put in jeopardy over the rest of the season too.

^ Doubt it.

The Sunwolves have already had 1 bye and their next one is at Easter when the Brumbies play the Jaguares. The Brumbies next bye is the week after Easter.

They gave the Crusaders and Highlanders 2 points each after what happened in Christchurch last year with no chance of making it up and they're relatively close to each other.

Japanese Top League games over the next two weekends have been cancelled/postponed at the insistence of Japanese Prime Minister Abe.

Reverse the fixtures? Brumbies host Sunwolves next weekend, then play in Osaka end of the regular season?

There was some attempt to do that for the reds v brumbies game at the start of the season to avoid the bushfire threat but an NRL game with in a day or two of the when the new Canberra game was going to be blocked it. Not sure if it'll be any easier here

thought it was the other way around? Spice Girls booked in Brisbane and when they cancelled (damn them!) we tried to get our game switched back to Suncorp so we werent on the road for 3 weeks. It was all too hard despite the Raiders not playing the weekend we wanted to swap for.

What I remember reading was that when the spice girls had cancelled and Suncorp was available the swap wasn't possible because of a raiders game, but not one that was on that night. Would've been Friday the 27th of march and it looks like the raiders play on Thursday the 26th at home, so they could've been it. Certainly fits my fuzzy memory of the article suggesting it was stupid the swap couldn't be worked out, given the stadium is free night of.

Was in a Wayne Smith article:

The current woes started last year. All franchises were asked to block out dates when it was impossible for them to play at home, and the Queensland Reds indicated that Suncorp Stadium wasn’t available for the opening round because of a planned Spice Girls concert. But then the Spice Girls thought better of coming Down Under and the gig was off. By this stage, the Super Rugby draw had gone through many iterations. Let’s face it, organising a competition across four continents — Australia, Africa, Asia and South America — takes some doing.

So the Reds came back and announced they could now stage the opening round match against the Brumbies on January 31 and all that needed to be done was to swap dates with the return match on March 27 — that is, play the match originally scheduled for Brisbane in Canberra instead. That way, instead of being the only team in Super Rugby to play their opening three matches away from home, the Reds would get a home match before they hit the road, while the Brumbies would still have two home matches out of three to start the season.

It didn’t happen. There was some complication with the NRL draw, which was tying up GIO Stadium. But curiously, the Raiders-Dragons match is set down for Thursday, March 26. Anyway, it was filed away in the “too hard basket” and the Reds were sent on a magical mystery tour of Canberra, Johannesburg and Buenos Aires, losing all three.

What happened with the Crusader game post the Christchurch shooting, didn’t they split the points?

The real problem is that this Coronavirus threat isn’t going to go away in a hurry. We could be looking at the majority of the Japanese games being missed. Can’t really see how it would be fair to reschedule some but not all these games.

Yes they split 2 points each. Would be a blow for any team scheduled to face them given the Wolves are looking like a free 5 points now.

The bigger issue here for mine is that if teams can't travel to Japan, then I would expect that the Sunwolves will not be allowed to leave Japan. The Sunwolves may have played their last game of Super Rugby earlier than expected.
