J. Clarke from Trinity in cas 1sts at fullback? how many games has he played there? hasn't he been playin wing and centres? really does show that polotics plays a big part in school boy rugby. this being because Purcell has played the whole of the 2010 season at fullback, also Wileman from waverley playing fullback this season, and Paterson playing fullback all of last season, and all 3 bing over looked by a under 16s player who has played 2 games at fullback even that....

From memory he played quite well there, I don't think he would let the side down. With Clark and Clunies-Ross (sic) the selectors may have gone with him to get more of a Trinity combination going in the backs. As a unit, their backs have been quite good and thus it probably makes sense to retain that grouping.

I don't think the selection of J Clarke in CAS 1sts has anything at all to do with "politics". He's possibly the most gifted back in a team that has won all of its games - on average, by a margin of well over 30 points. He's a very good player. It's true he's not a specialist full back - probably he's really a fly-half, but that spot's taken by Debreczini, who can also play a bit. If Knox's regular full-back (also a Clark) were fit, I imagine he'd have the CAS spot - as it is, Clarke has played full back since Clunies-Ross was injured and his team has won all three games convincingly - and he's enjoyed having the room to run from the back.

What combination 9, 10, 11, 15 - Far from an effective combination ? He has deffinately deserved his spot Although I would think a wing spot Prucell has played well behind a struggling team. I believe he deserves a shot at 15 first dispite injures to C. Clark and the overlook to Patterson.

If i'm wrong i will have egg on my face. I am quite happy to give credit where credit is due... But i think the CAS boys are going to struggle. Out of all of the CAS teams and players i have seen i would say that the only one who is really up there this year is Debrecini.
In the last few years the CAS has produced some quality players: Charles, Anderson, Kingston, Whittaker, Stubbs, Pyle, (and i'm sure there are a couple more) who have gone on to play Super Rugby or a high level of representative rugby (Aus 7s or U20s) at a young age.
All i'm saying is that there are no players of that calibre this year and i would be surprised if there are any/many Australian schoolboys from the CAS, although politics always gets a say.
I thought the idea of a forum was that you expressed your views on stuff... Sorry if you don't like my observations pitbull. In about 3 weeks time we'll be able to see whether i'm right or not. If i'm wrong i'm sure you'll let me know

Look, my suspicion is that this won't be a vintage year for CAS rugby. I'd say that normally you get a good CAS side when you have either a few really good players around at the one time, or when two or three of the schools are strong. This year, Trinity has a side with real strengths, but you'd have to say the rest are a bit below their ususal standard. And Trinity lost a trial to Riverview, which may not be the best of the GPS sides. Still, if the CAS 1sts takes Trinity's strengths and blends them with the best the other sides have to offer, they could be competitive. I fear GPS might dominate the set pieces, though.

I find it annoying that the CAS team selection has overshadowed the results of the weekend, there were no surprises in the Trinity- Aloys and Knox-Barker fixtures although Cranbrook defeated Waverly. Which i see as a major upset, it is the first time that cranbrook have won that fixture in 14 years. Which i believe has blown the competition wide open. With Waverly defeating Knox with the same team that played cranbrook, who knows what these cosmopolitan sippers can do

injuries have forced many players out of both 1's and 2's. interesting to see how both teams perform now. with some key players out.

Im going to have to agree with baldingwingforward this CAS might get a good win away against CHS but it is probably one of the weaker CAS 1s teams I have seen, although a few changes and availabilities can change it.
