The 2014 tour starts in Leeds, UK. Interesting.

They've made it to London and will be starting in Paris tonight (stage 4).

Best placed Aussie is Richie Porte (Tas) from Team Sky in 18th place, 2 seconds behind the overall leader.

Team Orica Greenedge is in 13th place so far.

Anyone following TDF this year?

Alberto Contador crashes, breaks his leg, and gets back on his bike after 4 minutes and tries valiantly to stay in the race. Ultimately unable to continue and withdraws.

Richie Porte looking good as a few of the fancied folks have now departed. Currently in 2nd place, 2:23 off the leader.

Next best Australian is Michael Rogers in 50th.

Some brutal climbs in the Vosges mountains.

Outstanding effort from Tony Martin on stage 9 to win the stage after being in a 2 man breakaway at the 18 km mark on a 180 km stage, then leads most of stage 10 before hitting the wall on the final climb.

Following it, with great interest, but zero knowledge.
I have feelings of strong anxiety, when fucktards watching, end up influencing the result, looking for their un earned moment of glory,by interfering with the participants.

Martin is an absolute beast. With Hushovd now nearing retirement, he is fast becoming my favorite non GC rider.

Can't see Porte breaking Nibali in the big mountains. A great achievement for Porte will be a podium place.

Nibali just needs to stay out of trouble. He really looks in awesome form.

The French are wetting themselves. Gallopin is the best thing in France since Pernod. Cracking rider.

Vincenzo Nibali was a machine up the gradient into Chamrousse, much of it on his own with little team support.

Hard to see him getting passed for the maillot jaune, provided he stays out of trouble.

Porte not his usual self on the hills, dropping 15 places to 16th. Team Sky have a mountain of work in front of them if he intends to finish on the podium in Paris.

Nibali looks unbeatable with a week to go...too bad, I was hoping to see a closer finish. Unless Vinnie totally cracks up, the chase for yellow is over---contests for polka dot and white jerseys remain, the others are done, IMO.

Michael Rogers wins his first stage in his 10th TdF. The only victory for the Brumbies this week.

Loving the descent finish today after a mother of a climb. Whizzing down narrow mountain roads at 100km/hr ... ... ... breathtaking.

Rogers' emotion in the final couple of hundred metres and at the finish was awesome.

As someone who has avidly followed the Tour and Australian cycling for a long time it was immensely enjoyable and a bit emotional.
