Ok, let's have your ideas for pre-match pub crawls.

I'm a bit undecided about whether or not to turn up super early to the "Bledisloe B&S" before further details are revealed as don't really want to risk being limited to Hahn Super Dry 3.5 for any longer than necessary. And I'd already got tickets before the Gold Brigade was announced.

But if they want loudness in the Gold Brigade they need at least the 4.2% of 150 Lashes or preferably something a touch stronger like James Boags.

Anyway, here is my initial idea for a Pre-Match Aussie pub crawl in the Rocks. Feel free to suggest improvements:

1pm - 2:15pm Late Lunch and drinks at the Glenmore Rooftop bar (if there's room) http://www.theglenmore.com.au/
2:15pm - 3pm - Up the road and round the corner for 350m to the Hero of Waterloo for some of James Squire's finest work http://heroofwaterloo.com.au/
3pm - 4pm - Walk the 260m to the Lord Nelson Brewery - Three Sheets to the Wind Wallabies fans! Or maybe not quite that drunk if you actually want to get into the match http://www.lordnelsonbrewery.com/
4pm - 5:30pm - Walk 500m down to the Australian Heritage Hotel for a light snack and a decent range of beers before heading to the stadium http://www.australianheritagehotel.com/content/drink
5:30pm - 6:30pm - Toddle down the 600m of stairs to get the train from Circular Quay to Central and then out to Olympic Park
6:30pm - 7:15pm - Pre-Game festivities. Possible quick trip to the Bledisloe B&S Ball
7:15pm - 8pm - Enter Stadium, buy 4 beers, take seat
8pm - 10pm - Watch glorious Wallabies Victory
10pm - late - Celebrations.....

I think state of the group around 5pm will determine if we go for a 1 stop or 2 stop strategy for getting out to Homebush.

There is 5:33pm train that you only need to stop once on and the trip takes 42 minutes.

But think it's more likely we will go for the 5:37pm train and 2 stop strategy. Extra 6 minutes travel time but think we'll need the additional pit stop.

Gold Brigade just announced they are starting at the Rugby Club, who are bringing out 10 dollar jugs

Yeah was about to say, if its $10 jugs there are no excuses guys. Round up a pack of 40 of your mates and go to the Rugby Club for startsies.

Unfortunately I tried to tee up a group of 20 mates to fly to Sydney for this game but no one has any money, so we are stuck in Brisbane. Nevertheless we will be screaming for Aus.

Hopefully make it down next year

Yeah, my pub crawl is now swinging into the rugby club. Going to have to revise those timings above.

Here's details of the Gold Brigade/Rugby Club pre-match function. The $10 jugs thing does sound mighty tough to beat.

Gold Brigade

8 August
We are pleased to announce an exciting partnership with The Rugby Club for a “Super Saturday” prior to next Saturday’s first Bledisloe Test. The Rugby Club is inviting all Gold Brigade members to join them at the Rugby Club (Rugby Place off 31 Pitt St – near Circular Quay) for a pre-match experience before all heading out together to ANZ Stadium with the Rugby Club located a stones throw away from... Wynyard and Circular Quay Stations.

From midday The Rugby Club will host their Super Saturday with the Rugby Club bringing back 2002 prices to coincide with our last Bledisloe Cup Series win. Yes jugs of beer will be $10!! There will be Wallaby Classic matches playing, along with a live showing of the Shute Shield Grand Final at 3pm. Following the Shute Shield GF, Gold Brigadier’s can make their way to ANZ to enjoy the pre-match B&S at the ground.

As part of the festivities, the Rugby Club will have a MECHANICAL BALL (yes you read that correctly, it’s a mechanical bull, however with a rugby ball instead of a bull). And for the daring amongst you, there will be an “11 Beers for 11 Bledisloe’s” challenge. Each beer will represent the Bledisloe failures of prior year’s being wiped away leading to a clean bill of health for the 2014 Bledisloe Cup! There will also be classic Wallabies at the Rugby Club throughout the day, so make sure you do not miss out on one of the days of the year to lead into the inaugural Gold Brigade experience.

As the only Rugby Club left in Sydney, and with the same level of passion for rugby (and an amazing array of rugby memorabilia) as the Gold Brigade, we are very excited to partner with them for a great day of rugby. Further, The World Cup and Super Rugby competitions were born at the Club!

Of course, don’t forget the Bledisloe pre-match entertainment (Bledisloe B&S) will commence from 4pm at Cathy Freeman Park (next to ANZ) with activites for all ages. This is also where you will pick up your Gold Brigade T-shirts.

Remember to purchase your tickets from the following links:
http://www.ticketek.com.au/FANGROUP(Smartphone link)
http://bit.ly/1pDfeKP (purchasing on a computer)

The countdown is on. UP THE WALLABIES!!!!! — at The Rugby Club

They have Vale Ale on tap at The Rugby Club.

Are they (Vale Ale) still sponsors of G&GR?

Be awesome if the $10 jugs at The Rugby Club on Bledisloe Day included all tap beer (incl Vale Ale).

So with Clipp app to run your tab, 5 jugs of beer will cost $35.00.

That is a powerful incentive to go and stay there.

When I was at the Rugby Club a couple of weeks ago the $10 jugs were New and Carlton.

Vale Ale was $15 a jug I think which is still great.

Well I am hoping for $10 Vale Jugs. That would be spectacular value.

Just got to hope the weather doesn't delay flights and cut into drinking time tomorrow.

It is what it is

Love it how we're 14 posts in and only 1 post mentions food.
Even then it was a token 'late lunch' and 'light snack'.
Pace yourself lads.

Beer (good craft beer) is a basic food group.

We have been discussing balanced dietary needs from the get go on this thread.

Eating is cheating.

What are the plans for this Saturday?

Can this previous effort from @Tangiwizi be topped?

For those not going out to The Village Green in Manly for some Shute Shield Action live, you probably need to make a detour to The Rugby Club around 2:30 pm to watch the Mighty Manly Marlins take on Sydney University The Corporation Waratahs A on the Big Screen.
