It's backfiring because it was a fucking outright lie. A lie that they based the majority of their campaign and subsequent policies on and it's all bullshit. They did it knowingly and consistently over and over and over again. They lied to the public to achieve power and then used the same lie to claim they have a mandate from the people.
So please lets not sugar coat it by saying they could've been more eloquent, and that labor lied also. It is what it is and it's disgraceful.
If someone tells you a disaster is coming then it is prudent to prepare as it will avoid the real crisis. Look at other publications that say we do have a crisis in the making. People such as Chris Richards, who unlike many of the other economists quoted, is a budget specialist having worked in that area in treasury.
Economists come in a range of specialities so asking a health one about the buget as a whole may not be accurate.
The Libs atleast didn't go on about that there would be a budget surplus like Swan and co.
The senate holding up the budget will assure us that things will get worse. Labor here is just opportunistic with the balance of power given to them by a micro party rigging of the voting system which is what I suspect most Australians can't believe happened. Ricki Muir with a fraction of a percent is now a senator. Ok its the system but does it reflect the will of the people.
ALP needs to learn that although TA is not doing well in the polls, at an election people want their will reflected just ask Rudd. They wanted their go at him.
