Without jinxing him he reminds me a bit of Hooper - although (dare I suggest it) his ball playing is a bit more dynamic. Of course I'm basing this on games at the levels below nat champs.
He's fast enough: evidently there's no one quicker under 16 at TSC as he ran the 100 championship in the GPS athletics.
He certainly is quick and tough. He is having a field day running off the inside shoulder of Crighton, as would most at this level.

If Charlie Smith can compete physically with NZ flankers at his age/weight I'll buy him a case of good Bordeaux en primeur. Don't know the young bloke and wish him well, but there's only so many Michael Hoopers in this world..

He is a freak ... And i rate him. However i Don't think he is going to grow alot more ... Would like to see scots convert him into a half back in 2015

^^ Ed CRAIG was listed as prop for Eastwood Colts 3 on the weekend. Showing his multiskilling value to the selectors.

In a similar vein, 2013 Aust A Hooker, Kasoukis (Ex Wav, now Wicks) has spent played a number of 2014 Colts 1 games as a prop for the Wicks.

What is it with the #2's wanting to be the Fat Boys?

Interestingly, Craig played #7 in his school's 44-0 win over Muirfield HS in the Sydney State Schools Grand Final at TGMilner this week. He's also been wearing the #6 (or possibly #7) jumper in Eastwood Colts 2s and 1s in recent weeks...

Listed at #2 for Eastwood Colts 2s this weekend.

I've heard the remaining 3 spots for Aus Schools are finalised:

Harley Fox, Anglican Church Grammar School Qld
Izack Rodda, Ipswich Grammar Qld
Izaia Perese, Anglican Church Grammar School Qld

Congratulations to these boys

(From ASRU email to Shadow player this morning)

Rodda and Perese? must have been injured as there names are not in the program from the Australian Championships.
I think Qld boys can thank themselves lucky that the coaching staff is from there as there are a few NSW boys who are asking themselves what did they have to do to get a gig a bit unfair.... maybe NSW fellas put your hands up next year for coaching and give them a chance

Rodda was injured but Perese didn't trial, along with the other league superstars from ACGS.

Good on you Harley Fox, definitely earned a spot after his performances thus far this season.

Harley Fox will some bulk to the forward pack, and he had a reasonable National Championship. Schoolboys selectors have tended to go for big bruisers for the #8 jumper ion the past. I thought he did play a little too loose for my liking, and was a little quiet in the QLD 1 vs NSW 2 game where he was heavily marked by the NSW 2 loosies, and IIRC he picked up a bit of a niggle to his thigh which may have impacted his play.

He will need to focus on the darker and tighter aspects of #8 play if he is to make an impact against The Darkness Schoolboys.

If my memory serves me correctly Rodda is a tall lump of a lad who is not afraid to get down and do some grunting work. He is probably what is needed in the Schoolboys engine room because it seemed to have a few too many players who specialise in loose and broken field play, and not enough grunters.

Perese. No opinion. Can't recall seeing him so I will defer to the skilled eyes of the Selectors and say congratulations to the lad.

Mafi seems to be over his injury from Nationals. That is good news for the team.

Have we lost any of those originally selected to Team Rehab?
Pretty sure that all is Honkey Dory with the NSW blokes selected, although there have been unconfirmed rumours of an injury to Prop Vunipola Fifita.

Mafi was injured in Qld GPS Round 3 9th Aug against BBC. He popped a shoulder in a tackle, it was popped back in on the field then he ran back to a scrum as though nothing happened...gutsy kid. Came off after that & missed Round 4 16 Aug against ACGS. I don't know his current injury status.

Thanks, Pablo.

I must commend those responsible for the new look Oz schoolboys website. It has plenty of user friendly links. It is a vastly improved version of the previous incarnation.

Must be shadows,.... .... ... or dreams.

On average, two kids get called up due to injuries. Best advice is to stay fit, and have a passport just in case.
