Do I detect a split infinitive:eek:

Fitzphiles 1 June 2013:

DOING THE SPLITS

Dear TFF,
In a similar vein to Dave Warner's horrifying spelling, I read a piece a while ago that amused a few of us no end. It was written after this year's Oxford/Cambridge Boat Race, during which TV microphones picked up the Oxford coxswain dropping a few F-bombs. This sparked a memory from the writer of the time a cox exhorted his crew with: "It's time to f---ing attack them." Patrick Kidd observed at the time: "Viewers were shocked. Fancy someone with all that education using a split infinitive."

Cat can you please clarify what you've said above. I'm not arguing, just want to understand what is going on.

You are saying Patston worked for the QLD CMC (Crime and Misconduct Commission), yet on her linked-in profile she says she worked for the Australian Federal Misconduct Commission.

If she worked at the Qld CMC for 11 years isn't it a bit odd she didn't know the name of the organisation she worked for? How did she confuse a QLD organisation with a federal govt body?

If she just got the name wrong why didn't she amend her linked-in profile rather than take it down?

Are you saying she did complete those degrees? ("qualification numbers and details were sent"). If so did she do it under her maiden name? What was her maiden name?

Why do you think Guinness et al are attempting a smear job? Are they Kurtley's mates?

You might want to see this article - Pulver sighted the docs and a reference check (including seeing whether quals and experience were legit) was done when she joined the staff. I assumed that would be standard for an org like the ARU - it is where I work.

As for the federal misconduct commission rather than the CMC? Wouldn't have a clue why the different name because I don't know how LinkedIn works, but I can't enter my old schools on FB because the names aren't recognised. Could that be why?

It's funny - Egerton's only required quals were that he was a former player. Patston has numerous quals and relevant experience and her integrity is questioned in the media.

Drop kick have you ever looked on LinkedIn? Half of the drop kicks I have as connections have put incorrect names of companies or projects.

Maybe she told the flight attendants not to serve him booze. But then proceeded to get hammered herself Beale knocked over the Red Wine on himself and Sam Carter. Link told them to change the shirt. Beale said something about wanting a beer she said excuse me.. He apologies for spilling drink. She's trolleyed gets sent home..

Beale takes to draining the red wine out of his shirt into a cup to drink.. Link catches him bans him for the game..

Case Closed

The thing about participating in boat rocking episodes (regardless of how culpable you are) is that you can only do it if you are genuinely worth the hassle of keeping - i.e. you're considered difficult to replace.

Beale's ceiling in the wallaby setup for the next year or so seems to be pulling splinters out of his ass, and there's every chance with a couple of guys getting fit that he won't even have the opportunity to do that. Foley, Horne, Cooper, JOC (James O'Connor), Tomane, Speight, and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) are all going to be competing for 3 spots in the XV and a maximum of two on the bench. Hard to see AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) missing out on the 23 and the same goes for Cooper. That leaves 3 spots for Beale and the other 5. Not a good time to be in the papers for the wrong reasons.

In this case the hassle - the CEO driving around town to check documents, the tour manager flying around the world, Link having to answer difficult questions about wtf is going on - and the ARU only having to not offer him another deal to exit the mess, it's hard to see him in gold in '15.

It's unfortunate as we've been waiting for what seems like a decade to see him become a long term wallaby, but life goes on.

From the Tele:
The Telegraph understands the troubled Wallaby was arguing with a second ARU staff member, Mike Doyle, after being told to change shirts when Wallabies coach Ewen McKenzie and business manager Di Patston both intervened.
Beale is said to have made a cutting statements about Patston, who will tell the ARU investigation she felt physically intimidated during the heated encounter.
Beale denied being affected by alcohol but has conceded he drank after the Test the night before.

Patston subsequently rejected an attempted apology from Beale, making her own verbal assertions about his future before returning to her seat.

Given this blokes track record, to have a female staffer feel "physically intimidated" should go far beyond simply have his contract torn up.

drop kick, the Linkedin profile was created by a third-party, and the ARU have already stated that Georgina Robinson's Rupert Guinness article was a load of shit:

The former Reds administrative assistant, who left to join Wallaby coach Ewen McKenzie at the ARU in 2013, deleted her LinkedIn profile and Facebook page on Thursday after Fairfax Media inquiries into her background.

An incorrect LinkedIn page listed a number of university degrees, whose awarding institutions had no record of. Also mentioned was a decade working at the Australian Federal Misconduct Commission. There is no evidence of this organisation's existence.

An ARU spokesperson said the LinkedIn profile had been created by a third-party and had now been taken down. The ARU said it had vetted Patston's background before employing her and said it had no concern about her work and education history.

"The Australian Rugby Union can confirm it has verified the academic and employment record of Wallabies business manager Di Patston. At the time of employing Ms Patston in September 2013, we undertook a rigorous reference checking and verification process.

"As a result of recent media speculation, we have reconfirmed the validity of Ms Patston's previous employment and education record. We are satisfied with this process and the information provided to us."

The ARU said Patston, who worked at Queensland Rugby Union (QRU) in 2012 after being hired by McKenzie as an assistant, had worked for 11 years as a compliance officer for the Queensland government, not the Australian Federal Misconduct Commission.

The spokesperson said the university degrees were obtained through modules completed in her government work, which was why neither the University of Sydney nor Griffith University had a record of her attendance.

The profile also had Patston working at QRU from February 2011 until she joined the Reds in 2012.

That's some seriously lousy journalism from Fairfax............

Spiro wades in with this from the Herald:

Are the Wallabies a house divided?
http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-union/a...allabies-a-house-divided-20141003-10pntf.html

The article is fairly typical Spiro affair, and it seems as it he is either browsing this forum or shopping at the same Tin Foil Hat shop that some of us use.

He also uses some further selective quotes from Dingo's book to try and tease us into reading it: Nucifora undermining him, Totality Tony and Scrivener having clandestine meetings with the Pulverisor, Big Kev hiding injuries etc.

It's a pretty dire situation to be honest, because if Link can't fix the Wallabies, we're really in trouble.

Like we paid the price for Macqueens reign for years on the field, we are still paying the price for Dingos reign off it.
