The point remains though - the LNP would NEVER actually do anything much contained in a ALP 'alternative' because they are ideologically opposed.

ALP left the budget in it's present state and is doing all it can to maintain the mess and prevent a clean up
is just more scare-mongering equal to the 'budget emergency' and budget crisis' bullshit Hockey and Abbott keep spouting even though it's been shot down by pretty much every economist.

It's also a shit idea that this budget will fix anything. The rhetoric that has come out re: age of entitlement and lifters and leaners etc etc. These guys are simply going to hurt those most vulnerable in our society so they can hopefully have books that are in the black while the real pain of their policies are felt in the streets and towns and cites of everyday Aussies.

Again - not passing this budget is the government's issue, NOT the opposition. The whole idea that there is only way to balance the books is ridiculous and childish - especially when the apparent 'adults' claim to be in charge.

“It is difficult to find a more blatant example of childishness, incompetence for the position, criminal intent, downright nastiness and an indication of a disturbed mind crying out for therapy. Don’t the Australian people deserve better?”

Ouch, The Russian newspaper Pravda really threw down Abbott.

Libs even voted with ALP to change work choices but ALP still wants many of the things that cost them the last election. No learning here.

I am looking long term. The budget needs to start a process that can take years. And years will be needed to recover.

Alternatives will be found that will cost people in other ways just so ALP can say NO.

This will be a long term strategy as the next election is 2 years away but Hockey will have treasury draw up two sets of figures, as I have said before, one with the chnages and one with the gap caused by ALP.

Then you start to cut even further pointing out to the public and apologizing but saying our hands are tied by the barking mad greens, the ALP etc. I would issue a note with each cut thanks to ALP.

Pravda -- so speaks the official organ of the Communist party and clapped on here by the left. By the way much of the left here in sweet mother Russia would be working hard in a camp.

If Abbott shirtfronts Putin and Putin in return sambos Abbott;

1, who would win?
2, would we be at mission with Russia?

I am personally picking Putin will just travel with some mad hungry pet bears. Abbott will have to break out the Crocs. Who would win that fight?

Don't know but it would make a welcome change for the leaders to go toe to toe rather than sending thousands of our troops to do their dirty work.:(

Foreign Correspondent was especially good and relevant this week. On the subject of asylum seekers (refugees) from Africa and Middle East trying to get to Europe and the way in which the Italian Navy assists them.

Currently about 140,000 "boat people" heading for Italy per year. Navy is conducting a search and rescue mission where those people are rescued from their inflatables or other marginally seaworthy vessels and treated with dignity and compassion, fed, given medical attention, and safely taken to the Italian mainland. Once there, they are processed in a processing centre and are then free to stay where they will be fed and housed, or allowed to leave to seek a future somewhere else (usually in another country).

The contrast with the treatment of people seeking to arrive in Australia couldn't be starker.

Even more compelling was the willingness of the Italian Navy to allow the Australian TV team to accompany them, both on the navy ship and on the smaller boats sent to the rescue site. We could learn a lot about adopting a more humanitarian attitude and policy towards these unfortunate people.

Loverly television and I agree with the last point about TV crew.

But in Italy they will have no social welfare, no jobs etc, most try to move onto other countries who are increasing getting very unhappy with Italy as they catch, process and send them back at great cost. Some have increased greatly their border security which was being lowered as a result of the EU integration. The great fear of terrorists gaining access to Europe unseen.

The Italians are stopping the program soon.

Other Europeans have argued that the Italians have created an industry by having the navy act as a taxi service and helpped fuel the illegal smuggling trade some run by the same peole like Jihadists to fund their wars

No easy answer

It all boils down to left vs right does it? What the fuck does that even mean nowadays? My point was that Pavada was throwing down on Abbott. Hardly a lefty conspiracy that a Russian publication calls out our PM over a stupid thing he said about their President. And why do you think lefty's should go to Russian prison camps. Do you have jurisdiction?

The real issue around all this is the plane being shot down, a difficult, complicated international tragedy. Now we'll all be waiting for the moment Abbott hits Putin.

Not a shot at anyone here, but I have a bloke on my facebook feed I used to work with - top guy but he's Labor to the core.

Always posting things about how great the opposition are right now, and how bad Abbott is, completely forgetting what a complete bunch of arse-hattery the previous Labor government was; a government that couldn't even lead itself!

Anyway, he liked the status of some old fart Labor senator who just went on a fact finding junket Senate Committe (Labor and Greens) tour of Australia, talking to GPs and other medicos about the $7 GP fee. Yes its a stupid idea, but how much did that shit cost the taxpayer? Pick up the fucking phone and call them - don't even need to leave your office much less head out on the road!

Fuckers.
