Surely they'd have to. 40 minutes in Cairns humidity would be enough to sap any athlete. No use getting an exhaustion related injury in a trial.

Highlanders take the biscuits in their trial against the Crusaders, 29-27.

On a traumatic note, Willie Heinz has broken his leg and Jone Macilai has broken his arm.

^^^^^^^^ To make matters worse Andy Ellis is still in Japan & may not be available until March, depending on how his Club side goes in their playoffs, which leaves them with Mitchell Drummond & whoever's in their WTS. Not sure if there'd be too many quality 9's who aren't already locked into someone's Super Rugby setup or gone OS. That said, I'm sure Toddy will have his scouts out & about looking for someone.

EDIT: and I'm gonna have to do another re-write of my steaming pile of pro-CruSadists (TM) propaganda I mean fair & balanced season preview :-(

Blackadder's gonna ask Ellis to break his Jap club contract & come home early. Can't see it happening, he'll probably want to be going back to Japan if not Kobe post-Super Rugby.

Yeah, my guess is they will play 20min quarters, as the Tahs and Rebels did in Albury last year. Cracked 40 degrees if I recall. Basically a new team ran on each quarter.

Personally, I think running around for 80 on Cairns January heat for a trial game is just plain idiotic.

Bulls 30-13 Cheetahs - Scrumhalf Piet van Zyl put in an inspired cameo and inspired his teammates as they scored three tries – two to the nippy scrumhalf – to run away with the game. While little can be predicted from the results of warm-up games, the Bulls will be happy with what essentially is a second string side winning so comprehensively.

But Bulls will be without Springbok hooker Bandise Maku fo 4-6 months after he tore his pectoral muscle @ Polokwane.

Everyone's getting injuries.

The Waratahs are playing Randwick, Sydney Uni and Parramatta in 30 minute sessions on Sat Jan31.

There was some confusion (started by me) about where the game was going to be held.

I heard Merrylands - and thought it was the ground by the Merrylands RSL, which has been used for a lot of Oz Schools and Tah B games - but it is at Granville Park (Parramatta's home ground) which is also in the Merrylands' suburb.

The Tahs' sessions start at 1pm Saturday but the Willie O Cup games (part of a Tahs fan day) starts before then and concludes after the third Tahs' session.
