The AFL investment in Queensland and NSW is a good example the need to have a long-term view on investing into new markets, ride out the rough stuff and enjoy the times when your investment pays off. The Brisbane Bears took forever to be come good, for a while it was seen as a retirement piss-trip for VFL players. With three premierships in the early 00's it shows that the long-term view can work if you invest and be patient. The big difference is the dollars they ahve to play with in AFL land; their OS budget alone was way more than the total TV rights deal for Super Rugby.

One thing we all knew but has been reinforced bigtime this year is that you need a very good 10 to be a chance in Super rugby (and every competition).

QC (Quade Cooper) must be a huge priority for Reds and ARU

I kinda like that Reg. With McIntyre or Greene at 10 and a new midfield combo with one that's played little footy it's likely to be a shambles but I just like that they are trying something new! :)
Hopefully JOC (James O'Connor) can get his hands on the ball more coming in from 15 and with those two guys in the midfield I hope at least on attack they will have defenders sitting back on their heels a bit.

In all fairness how many club games has McIntyre been fit for? Maybe Graham finally had another flyhalf option to select?

Yes and they don't appear to think either are up to starting a Super Rugby game. From what I can see neither appeared in the 2014 NRC in any capacity.

JJ Tuilagi was exceptional in premier grade and woeful in Super Rugby in 2014. Would you take that risk with a 10? They now have McIntyre available, he has been tested at a level above Premier Grade, did ok considering they won the comp. He is a viable option.

Dalgleish had a few appearances in the NRC.

I understand the argument about playing a Super Rugby-level player there, but I still don't agree with that logic at a highly specialised position like flyhalf. I'd much rather have someone who understands the intricacies of the position rather than the level of competition there. Frisby is by all means a talented footballer, but he never looked comfortable with the kicking game, reading of the game or really the ball handling required to play flyhalf.

This only really applies for flyhalf though. I'd rather have a Super level backrower switch positions or an outside back etc than bring in a club player.
