Blues looking OK early on in the wet at Eden Park: Ioane with a really good midfield break & palm-off on Nonu, Saili with a huge hit on Milner-Skudder, but 'canes with the lead, 3-0 after 14.

Ominous stat: 'canes are only the 5th team to ever be 11/12 in a season, the other 4 (Blues & Crusaders twice each) all won the title......................

Try Chris Eves from a lineout drive from a penalty. Black takes the shot 15m in & on the 22, nails it so 10-0 after 36.

Try TJP after several others went close. Let's see if Black can kick them from both 22/15 junctions..... yeah, 17-0 & oranges are served. Blues will be gutted, so competitive for 30-odd but then undone by weight of possession & territory.

Miracle BP try Milner-Skudder. Black gives it a good crack from the touchline but misses, 29-5 with 12 to go. People starting to rock up at my place for the main event.................

FT 29-5 & If I heard correctly, win/ loss-wise this is now both the best-ever season for the 'canes & the worst-ever for the Blues. Main event about to kick off..............

Handy pre-season hit-out for the Canes.

Nice little assisted training run for them.

Some of those Auckland Blues might even be worth a Super XV contract this year.

superxv.com have gone out on a limb & declared that the 'canes have qualified for the playoffs......... had a wee chuckle when TJ made a similar remark towards the end of the match. Balls of steel, that one..........
