Last quarter final result: Abbotsleigh (Aff) defeated Cranbrook (Neg) . Topic: that we should allow individuals to sell their votes. Abbotsleighs arguments were fairly singular and simplistic about benefiting the lower socio economic class. Strong third speaker in Aff but countered well by Negs Third speaker and overall Aff not a particularly strong team . Cranbrooks arguments more sophisticated, greater depth and knowledge. Negs speakers stronger than Aff but adjudicator surprisingly gave Affirmative the win.
Abbotsleigh will now face Scots which should be an easy win for Scots. Would have been much more of an equal contest if Cranbrook had remained in. Scots and Cranbrook were Grand Finalists against each other in 2012. This season Scots deeated Cranbrook in a close debate but notably one of Cranbrooks strongest speakers, the third speaker, did not speak that night and replacement did not do well. With its full team Cranbrook may have contended well. After Abbotsleigh, Scots will then probably face Rivreview in the GF.

Riverview (neg.) def. Kings (aff.). Topic: "That employers should not discriminate against employees based on lifestyle factors such a smoking and obesity."

Scots def. Abbotsleigh. Not sure about topic.

Not sure about Senior B/other age groups. Will post if I find out.

Despite probably not the most ideal side of the topic, Scots Snr A managed to pull it off from affirmative to win on welfare being conditional on vaccinating children.
Scots/Grammar Snr B did the topic on indebted governments being controlled by a non elected panel of experts (something like that). MLC/Monte Snr B did vaccinations as well. Not sure sides or outcomes.
If I get the proper topic wording ill post it up.

Some input on Archdale Seniors from Round 1:
Abbotsleigh def Kambala
Ascham def Tara
Danebank def St Vincent's
Meriden def Loreto Kirribilli
Monte def Wenona
PLC Sydney def Ravenswood
Pymble def Santa Sabina
Roseville def St Catherine's
Tangara def Mt St Benedict
MLC def Kincoppal
Dont know the topics. Someone else care to find out, as it would be good to keep track of what comes up at each level? No result for Loreto Normanhurst/SCEGGS. Id imagine a SCEGGS win though.

As predicted, Scots now face Riverview in GF. Should be a close debate - outcome will be interesting. Imo Topic in semis would have been equal weighting; rather Aff being less ideal.
Does anyone know where the GF is being held?

ISDA Revolutionary

Frank Row (1)
Historic moment for the ISDA, not seeing Grammar 1sts represented at the GF, following a deserved loss to a superior Cranbrook team.

Maybe they'll watch the GF from afar.

Will be an interesting debate tonight in the GF between Riverview and Scots.
No preconceptions here. It could be anyone's on the night. Will look forward to hearing the result.
When you say historic does this mean Grammar has never not been in the GF before?

Firstly, the grand finals are next Friday, not this Friday.

Second, I suppose by recent standards Grammar's absence from the final is somewhat unique (they made it last year and the year before that) but in the grand scheme of things I would argue that things are starting to revert back to historical trends given Riverview's presence in the final.

Third, it's quite audacious to argue that Cranbrook's Senior A team is superior to Grammar's.

Bit hard to argue a reversion to historical trends simply based off Riverview's presence in the final. A trend implies a continuation. There is no evidence that it will continue when Grammar still maintains a strong presence in finals in lower grades. Take Senior B for example, Grammar is in the Grand final and managed to defeat B1 Barker and D2 Scots whereas Riverview got knocked out in quarters having only beaten A4 Tangara before losing to C2 Monte.
Year 10. Again Grammar in grand final. D1 Riverview lost to B3 Pymble in Quarters. So not sure what trend Riverview's presence in the finals indicates then?

Grammar probably also thought that it would be audacious to suggest that Cranbrook Snr A was superior, for all the good it did them in the Octos....
I dont imagine they would need to watch from afar given theyll be hosting the debate, probably chairing/timing the very debate they hoped to be in..

Archdale R2 Update:
Seniors topic/results:
That women who prioritise their femininity are bad for feminism

Kincoppal def Pymble
MLC def Tara
Santa Sabina def St Catherine's

Loreto Kirribilli def Ascham

Ravenswood def Kambala
Abbotsleigh def Meriden
PLC Sydney def Roseville

Wenona def Mt St Benedict (Forfeit)
Loreto Normanhurst def St Vincent's
SCEGGS def Monte
Danebank def Tangara

Speaking of Topics, did someone keep track of the rest of the CSDA topics?

Firstly, thanks for the clarification.
Secondly, unfortunately the ISDA website does not give historical records further back than 2010 and then only for the initial 7 rounds. But perhaps someone on the site has this information?
Thirdly, Many assertions about team and team members' prowess have been made on this site but imo ISDA Revolutionary wasn't making an assertion of overall superiority . Merely that Cranbrook Senior A were deserved winners in their debate against Grammar.

There was more than one enigma at tonight's debate.

How enigmatic! How cryptic! Who is enigma? What does he want from us?

Care to elaborate engima?

For those wondering Scots scored a unanimous win over Riverview in the final from the aff. on "That we should cap the legal costs of civil law cases".

The Scots team have also had extensive involvement and training in the Bond mooting competition. As such the nature of the topic would have augured well for them.
So ends another ISDA season. Now onto the GPS ; CAS ; CHS and Archdale comps.

Do you have the alternative topics that got vetoed for the seniors aka_the_think Or any other finals topics at all?

Archdale R3 Seniors Update:
Pymble def MLC
Tara def Kincoppal
Ascham def St Catherine's
PLC Sydney def Santa Sabina
Abbotsleigh def Ravenswood
Meriden def Kambala
Roseville def Kirribilli
SCEGGS def St Vincents
Danebank def Mt St Benedict
Monte def Normanhurst
Tangara def Wenona

Snr: That GST should remain in the State that it was raised in
Int: That all Australian defence machinery, such as submarines, should be made in Australia
Jnr: That parents should get an extra vote for (each of?) their children.
Dont know what the exact wording of some of those topics were, that should be it/close to it.

Anyone got a list of all the winners of the grand final(s) in ISDA?

I've got:
Senior A - Scots
Senior B - Grammar
Year 9 - MLC

Can someone fill in the gaps? (There are many of them).
