Typical Tournament Day 1 games. Despite some teams being in camp for varying lengths of time, some combinations were rusty and timing was a bit out across the park.

All teams will be happy to have the hit out yesterday, and respective coaches will have plenty to work on today in preparation for their key matchups on Wednesday and Thursday.

Remember that Coaches are under obligations to give all players a set number of starts, and there are minimum game time requirements. Coaches are human as well, and will field teams or make substitutions that may differ from those desired by the keyboard wielding clipboard selectors, or Mums, Dads, friends, relatives and associates of the players. The Team Rehab Selectors will also influence various squad selections with some boys picking up niggles and bumps that will rule them out of proceedings for varying periods.

Today will see the first Div II games, and a "rest day" for the Div I Teams, although rest will be far from what most of them will have.
5. LM v NT 11:30am
6. TAS v SA 1:00pm

Wednesday Div I Games:
7. WA v NSW I 10:00am
8. QLD I v ACT 11:30am
9. QLD II v VIC 1:00pm
10. CS v NSW II 2:30pm

The live stream is not working.

All I am getting from
is "Please stand by" and some immature trolls confirming their lack of intelligence in the YouTube chat window.

Some disappointed parents, friends and family.

Is it really that hard to stream a match on youtube?

Nothing on Twitter that I can find apart from this from ARU Community rugby plugging the live streams

No match reports on ARU web site or ASRU. Disappointing given how slick ASRU web page has recently been, but not entirely unexpected.

Once again G&GR are to the fore in covering and promoting the National Championships.

Big thanks is due for the tireless efforts of @Lee Grant.

A little overnight rain (1-2mm) that will add to the handling factor in the early games today. Showers have cleared. Overcast conditions with a light 5 knot SW wind and currently 11.5 degrees up to a forecast maximum of 17 degrees.

Another great day of footy in almost ideal conditions awaits us.

Ground Announcer says that there are issues beyond ASRU control preventing them updating their website. Results will be released to AAP and should be "in the papers".

Meanwhile, read all about it here on the World's Best Rugby Forum.

Quite obvious in the qld and vic game that the ref was from qld...if not he was very biased and that's coming from a queenslander himself....

Had to leave early.

Mate rang to say NSW II 45 CS 17. No detail on who scored what.

Edit: More info but incomplete.
1 Penalty Goal each and NSW scored 6 converted tries, while CS scored 2 converted tries.

For NSW II: Long haired winger (23. Nisczcot ?) kicked the goals for NSW II. The CCC fulback (22 Pelligrini) scored 2 tries, playing as the starting 10. The Big Blonde prop (3 McRae) scored. The Lock in the Red headgear (?), the wing that wasn't kicking (Not 23 Nisczot) and the halfback (9 Strang?) also scored.

CS: 13 Joe Williams and one of the forwards scored. They changed their kicker but the 10 C Williams kicked the early penalty for them.

Yellow card to a NSW prop.

^^^^ It wasn't pretty from a WA perspective.

My thoughts on today.
NSW I: Daylight will be second. The bench started and there was no drop in quality of execution. Plenty of penalties for breakdown offences but who cares when you steal 50% of opposition lineouts.
QLD I: Went off the boil at times, but may be too strong for NSW II tomorrow given how they disposed of ACT today. Mosley dangerous with ball in hand and from the kicking tee. Still no points against them.
QLD II: Never looked in danger of losing but let Vic back into the match. Front row seemed to pack a little high, but Foulds has a good turn of pace.
WA: Would like to see Jooste behind the QLD I or NSW I forward pack. Tired boys will sleep well tonight.
VIC: Loving the speedsters. 15 has great attack and versatility and was always dangerous with the ball in hand but when caught he got ragdolled by the big QLD piggies. Better suited to 7's where there is more space and less monsters.
ACT: Bad starters and let QLD I get a soft headstart. Opportunities to improve S&C. Bit of a gap between starting players and bench players.

CS & NSW II: Did not see this game.

Matty Shields' concentration and setup has improved since last year, and he is getting better success with his place kicking as a result. Pity about the Eastwood kit he was wearing, but an improvement on the QLD rig he appeared in last year.

Pool A so far
1. NSW I - 2 wins with 4T BP - 109 PD
2. QLD II - 2 wins with 4T BP - 33 PD
3. VIC - 2 losses with 0 BP - -49 PD
4. WA - 2 losses with 0 BP - -93 PD

Pool B so far
1. QLD I - 2 wins with 4T BP - 98 PD
2. NSW II - 2 wins with 4T BP - 46 PD
3. ACT - 2 losses with 0 BP - -63 PD
4. CS - 2 losses with 0 BP - -71 PD
