It's possible it was done get around player points situation? Maybe bringing on someone after a couple of mins..

The team announced adds up to 98 points I think.
They could have selected Latu, Tilse and Robertson in the front row and Hodge or someone in the 2nd row and still only had 98 points.
Maybe Matthew Philip (10 points) is the player they want to bring on as a non fresh reserve having played a few minutes in 2nds.

^^^ Last Week I seem to recall that Tilse went to Lock when Dave Dennis went off and Alistair Ryan came on. It was about 10 minutes to go.
Matt Phillip was his locking partner at that time. I think the other starting Lock (O'Regan) went off early with a hand or arm injury. Super-Boot Byron Hodge is usually their go to second row sub.

I sense some sort of switcheroonie is planned involving props, hookers and second rowers.

It is a bit reminiscent of the good old days

Another memory - Uni using its rep players at the pointy end of the season. Now I read this on the front page of GAGR:
If Hooper is found guilty, he would not able to claim a Shute Shield quarter-final for Manly on Saturday as part of his suspension as he has not played enough club games to be eligible for the playoffs.

I'm sure there is a policy/rule behind this, but my perception is poor.

^^ Same argument as used by The Corporation for Dave Dennis.
Provided he has maintained his registration with the MMM for 2 years without a break, he doesn't have to play any games at all. If he was new to MMM and had not maintained registration for two continuous years, like Jacpot was for Randi-Wix this year, then he would have had to have played two games this season.

IMHO, the front page assertion is incorrect, and Hooper is eligible for Finals for the MMM, pending the outcome of the SANZAR Judicial lottery.

33.2 A player shall not be eligible to play in a Finals Series fixture unless:
(a) The player has played with the Club a minimum of four rounds during the Minor Premiership series; or

(b) The player has been on representative duties during the current season and has played a minimum of two minor premiership matches in the current season at the same Club in which he is seeking eligibility, or has been a registered player with the club (according to the online registration system) without break for the previous two years.

As I understand the SANZAR rules, Hooper would need to be able to prove that he was definitely going to play in this weekend's SF for it to be counted towards his suspension. That's been the approach in the past where players have sought to use club games to consume their suspension. Given that no other members of the Wallaby squad have been released to play for their clubs this weekend (as far as I know) I don't see how he could possibly claim this.

^^^ That would get the tongues wagging if all the Wobs aligned to The Corporation were available for their QF! :)
Folau, Phipps, Foley, Skelton.

Phipps and Foley would be 10 Player Points due to long service discount.

Skelton would be around 16 Points for 4 or more years local service and Izzy would be 18 points for 2 years "service" with The Corporation.

There would have to be some very creative work done with "zero point" reserves to field a team containing those blokes.

Dean Mumm may not be eligible because of the requirement to be registered with them for the last two years.

It appears QC (Quade Cooper) wanted to play for his club Souths in Brisbane in their grand final this weekend but the South's coach has said no.

I remember guys coming back from superXV playing three grades in a day to qualify. Cheika even did it himself one year. I got to play with him in 3s and 2s on the one day.

Did Cheika play Super Rugby?

Which year? (Not disputing this, just curious).

This was in 2000 or 2001. Cheika was coming out of retirement or overseas or something actually, not back from super rugby. Should've added that sorry! But he was trying to qualify for the finals and needed to get the games up and did so the last round or could've even been 1st week of the semi's.

No guarantee he was going to be selected for the Wobs either. There is a fair bit of man-love of Pocock on the forum. He might as well have a lash at trying to run around The Village Green for the MMM.

They've done it that way. One week suspension, which means he will 'unfortunately miss the manly game in this weeks Shute shield semi finals' and be right for the bledisloe
