Aussie Player Exodus

Highlander35

Andrew Slack (58)
Contracts end is the key.

Bosman ruling got rid of that. Previously the club held the players license, for lack of a better word, and without that license, a player couldn't play for a team. He wanted to move on because his contract was up, club refused to transfer the license without a fee, took them to EU court, boom, player regains his license at the end of his contract. Clubs still need to pay a registration fee that a big chunk of goes to the professional club that developed them, but no fee to the previous club is necessary.

Fees while the player is still under contract, completely different kettle of fish.

Toulon apparently in discussions with the ARU to release Quade for a few Sevens Tournaments throughout the season..

So Quade could sign with Toulon but still play sevens for Australia..

Mitch Inman is cover for the RWC only. He'll be back for Super Rugby 2016.

Edit: Didn't realise Tala Gray was off to Toulouse?

Little bit disappointing Pocock's only signed for 1 more year. So long as he remains relatively injury free it'll be enough to get him to the 60 caps.

Michael Ala'alatoa hasn't got a Super gig next year, yet. A shame as the Tahs should be looking to move Tilse along and plan for the future.
I'm not 100% convinced that big Mike is "The Answer" but he's a helluva lot closer to the answer than just about anyone else in our immediate vicinity, or even the outlying areas. I've nothing against Tilse but if he ever was going to produce something, surely he'd have done it by now.

Reading between the lines, I think that they don't see Mike Ala'alatoa progressing quickly enough and are moving him on in favour of young guys coming through like Tom Robertson, Cameron Orr and Matt Sandell.

Tilse is still only 29 and I think the Tahs must be thinking that in 2016 he's still more match ready than Mike.

Well I am extremely biased but I think Mike has been fantastic in the ITM so far, ok Turbos got a hammering the other night but he has shown strength and skill in both the loose and in scrummaging.
I hope we have him for all of next year, but after that I think he will be lost to Australian rugby.
