So the season launched this weekend past with the One Day Domestic Comp, the Matador Cup. They've decided the include a CA Select team of the best players not picked in their state's squads. It seems a ludicrous development idea as they are players not good enough for thier state side. If anything they should have stacked it with Aussie players who didn't end up going to Bangladesh.

Anyway they got rolled by a stacked NSW team for 50 odd chasing 338. Not quite like when Australia A played in the international tri-series some years ago.

The other stand out was Travis Head smashing a double ton from 120 balls as SA chased 350 v WA (for whom Cameron Bancroft smashed 176). I'd suggest Hurtville Oval might make North Sydney Oval look like a green top in Calcutta?

Maybe that Cricket Australia team isn't that bad.

NSW has SA 7/86 in reply to 266.

Starc bowled Head for a first ball duck.

The CA XI is a good idea. Over the years many unwanted players have moved states and gone onto higher honors. In contrast every Blue that played SA has played for Aus and only 1 or 2 that played CA XI hadn't. Smith and Starc are about 3 classes above. Both would be in a one day World XI.
