Rowan Perry could easily be a reverse of the Hooper situation and look to return to the Brumbies in a couple of years when an opportunity arises.

It's really not a case of ignoring talent. You can only sign a player at the expense of another player. There is always an opportunity cost.

Perry played for the Vikings all season. It's not like the Brumbies are unaware of his existence.

I really like the look of Perry, and he had a very strong NRC and Aus Barbarians hitout. I wonder why the Brumbies signed Michael Wells from the 7s in favour of Perry? He's a 7 also isn't he?

Nah, Wells is a 6/8....

Then the Brumbies have arguably the best two No 8s in Aus in Pocock and Vaea with Butler coming up fast behind them. And Fardy is the best No 6 in Aus and not far behind is Smiler with Oakman-Hunt in the wings. Makes me wonder why they'd need another 6/8 when backup 7 could be the weak spot. IMO Jarrad Butler is not a great prospect at 7 - he isn't what we should want over the ball.

Really think it's a pity if we've lost Perry as beyond his conventional No 7 play he showed in the Barbarian's game that he is a wonderful distributor one or two off the ruck and lineout as well. Constantly put players through gaps in the 10/12 channel. IMO he has more promise than any of the other young 7s going round and will be a valuable gain for the Tahs if they sign him up.

Anyways..........

Pocock and Butler are 7's, with Butler able to backup at 8.........

Vaea is our only specialist 8.........

Fardy and Smiler are our 2 6'a but neither will likely be around for much longer..........

It makes perfect sense to have another young 6/8 on the books instead of another 7.

shame if Tomane heads to france ... I would have liked to see him mature more here... Former brumbies coach Jake White is proving to be a real self minded agent... I'm now openly seeing a side of Jake that many Safers told me years ago he believes "what's good for Jake is good for rugby..." His words now are more hollow than ever...

http://www.canberratimes.com.au/rugby-union/union-news/new-brumbies-jersey-20151130-glbmy2.html

The Brumbies will launch their new jersey on Tuesday at 12pm, featuring the blue and gold colours they've worn for the past 20 seasons but scrapping the white with a new design.
The Brumbies have worn predominantly the same jersey since the start of Super Rugby in 1996, with blue and gold across their chests and white down their torso.

..........

Chief executive Michael Jones says it's time for change, with three shades of blue to replace the previous design and gold trim around the neck.

"We are a club with a more than 20-year history and over those two decades our jersey hasn't changed all that much – this year it will," Jones said.
