You beat me to it. I played a game at Brockton Oval in 2012 and, like you, was in awe of the location and view. Here are some photos that don't do it justice.

I'll kick the trend of boutique grounds out of the window and offer Newlands and AAMI Park. Might not be as picturesque as those south island NZ offerings but they're great for their own reasons.

Was better when there was a layer of fresh snow on the ground and the rugby pitch was the only green you could see. The old pavilion overlooking the field in the bottom corner was great too, unless you coached the home team and they were loosing as you were given a lot of advice.
