The whispers are true - club rugby will be on FTA TV this season with 7 Two (Ch 137) to broadcast games. Discovered it out of genuine curiosity via a search through the Foxtel planner for 3pm this coming Saturday.
Great news for club land - well done to all involved behind the scenes to make...
Trials are trials - don't read too much into them. Don't forget the Tahs started last season in mixed fashion before 'turning the corner' and going undefeated from the 'Canes game through to the GF.
Regardless it's just exciting to have some rugby back - let's hope the crowds we saw in the...
Is Manenti back this season to lead the Woodies? Eastwood always seem to be competitive regardless of who they have on deck. There were whispers last season that there was friction between 1st/2nd grade with players thinking the order was the wrong way around.
However the GF buried that...
Is it true Tom Boidin is playing overseas? I remember the Uni vs. Rats game at Rat park last year where it seemed like there were 3-4 Boidons on the field, his work-rate and impact was that great.
Not sure if they're playing grade (assume so) but I'd be keeping my eye on Alex Newsome (centre) from Easts and Ned Hanigan from Wicks (lock/6) - two promising young players, who I'm sure both got a run on Saturday for the Tahs given they're in the NSW U20's squad.
Was out at Merrylands on Saturday to watch the Tahs vs. Uni, Wicks & Parra trial - decent crowd, especially given how hot it was. Well done Parra on what felt like a carnival type atmosphere with live music after the game/s.
Now let's get down to business - with trials about to start for most...
SS coverage on ABC being cut is an absolute disgrace. How on earth Pulver, Hawker & co can honestly think they've got Aussie rugby headed in the right direction is nothing but a pipe dream. If anything they've got it stuck up a certain creek with no paddles and a gaping hole.
Whether people...
WTF? How on earth can this happen. The ARU is absolutely kidding itself if this goes ahead - the SS in Sydney and club rugby in Brissy are where the majority of players who make up Super rugby squads come from.
Cut the money being wasted on external PR guru's and put it where it makes a real...
SS round 1 is Sat March 21st - anyone seen the draw and know who plays who yet? Seems to be a lot of change and expect a dew clubs to surprise in 2015.
The difference last night was the mindset of both teams with 5 mins to go and the use of the respective benches.
Who kicked the goal to win the game? Colin Slade, the 4th choice AB's 10 behind Carter, Cruden & Barrett.
Hansen emptied his bench despite the fact his team was behind and needed...
Rugby in Australia has an incredible ability to constantly shoot itself in the foot and make it the laughing stock of the sporting community when compared to league, AFL, soccer, etc.
The sooner any 'dirty laundry' is aired and everyone is held accountable, the better. The constant he said...
Probably after they work out who is still standing following the independent tribunal. Beale will be gone, Ewen seems punch drunk with terrible selections and farcical half time concepts, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)'s family are busy picking stinks about poor 100 test celebrations & Hooper is out of his depth as...
Thanks ILTW - Cummins deserves a crack. Will be interesting to see how the Marlins bounce back after again falling short at the business end of the season - more so in 2014 when it seemed for awhile, they could go undefeated all year.
Will it be a Bunnies like, third year lucky scenario...
What happened to Wallaby teams being known for being one step ahead of teams through creativity and imagination? Apart from beating a VERY ordinary French team 3-0, we've been very ordinary and only displayed tiny glimpses of what is possible when we bust our a$$e$ to defend (SA test) and attack...
