    Shute Shield 2017

Any info on which clubs? I hear Gordon's numbers have fluctuated through Nov/Dec, but some decent turnouts.

    Shute Shield 2017

I agree absolutely. Unfortunately social media and every player being their own paparazzi has lead us down this path.... no one can afford to let their hair down anymore, the message being they are representing the club etc. I remember the first 20 minutes after players starting arriving at...

    Shute Shield 2015

Any other coaching appointments been announced in the last week or two? Gibbo, what is the setup for Gordon next year? I hear Neil Tunnah is moving over to Norths so what are the implications for the grade coaching team at the Highlanders?

    Shute Shield 2014

The weather has got to have something to do with it. This sun is better for the spectators comfort and the players' handling.

    Sydney Colts - 2014

Could be a very messy setup if true. Registering and releasing players week after week between the two clubs... can anyone confirm if this is happening and also if even permitted?

    Shute Shield 2014

A number of teams change their positioning on defensive lineouts. The hooker will often stand behind the lineout in the traditional halfback position to be able to join the lineout to lift an extra pod, or join a defensive mall/sack. The half then fills the vacant 5-metre channel position.

It is now 90 seconds from when the try is awarded. Prevents the kicker having a drink and tying his laces prior to "receiving" the tee from the runner.

Sydney Rays .. NRC Team Official Thread

Agree, I want to see the NRC and our North Harbour side succeed and remember the great feeling all clubs involved felt when the Rays succeeded in 07. We just need to be careful in these early years. I know what you mean about taking a professional approach and trying to leave club loyalty to...

Brookvale has been mentioned. Better broadcasting facilities, good lighting, and rectangular.

Four clubs are in this franchise aren't they? (financially all equal participants too from what I understood)

    Shute Shield 2013

Good to see there are a few. Just as important to have old heads stick around as it is to recruit colts.

    Shute Shield 2013

Great to see a couple of Norths boys reaching the 200 game milestone this season. Not many players stick around long enough these days. Any achieve that mark in the last few years for Gordon Gibbo? Last I can recall is Michael Cunneen.

    Shute Shield 2013

Who are the other coaches for 2014 at Gordon?

    Shute Shield 2013

I for one wouldn't have minded seeing Newington win that one... ;)

    Shute Shield 2013

True, but how many Super players receive their contracts based on their highlight reels from playing against the struggling Shute Shield clubs?

    Shute Shield 2013

Bruce, I was not labelling Uni (or Eastwood & Manly for that matter - I did mention other clubs) as the reason for Australia's failure on the provincial and international level. My point was not that any club or province was entirely to blame, but an observation that the way we seem to...

    Shute Shield 2013

I can't help but draw parallels between the lopsided Shute Shield and the failure over the last 10 years of our Super Rugby provinces and the Wallabies. University have been incredibly successful over that period, and have provided a bulk of the players moving into the professional ranks...

    Shute Shield 2013

I'd probably rank Anthony Moyes up there with Walsh. He refereed well at SS level a season or two ago, but seems to have moved permanently to the World Sevens circuit. Would be good to see him move back to the full version of the game when the speed of 7's takes its toll.
