Part 3 of my Wallaby scrum article published today includes my analysis on the impact of the new trial laws on the scrum.

IS - I've done an attack video for today which I'll publish shortly then will do a set piece video tomorrow and will include some video and commentary on this issue.
James O'Connor and Christian Lealiifano together is effectively two rookies starting together in the most important test for the Wallabies for years.
It's a gamble - I would have preferred Barnes in place of one of them for his experience alongside.
Here's what I think JOC (James O'Connor) will need to focus...
Lions defence has been impressive so far - here's my analysis including video of three spaces the Wallabies can target - question is will they?

On another note, Lions were not continually offside in...
Here's a great explanation of the new scrum laws for next season.

I think these are really positive changes.
Scrums will be more about hooking for the ball and power after the ball is fed, not so much about the hit.
Some of the GAGR crew from the early days (Gagger, Moses, Cote, Lance, Timmsy and I) will be watching Wests v Brothers tomorrow before we tackle Reds v Lions.
Hopefully we can pace ourselves at lunch beforehand and Wests can put up a competitive performance.
The benefits of Gill/Hooper combination on the field at the end of the match is worth taking a risk with the bench.
I think MMM is the only player we have who can genuinely cover lock/6.
If he's unavailable you have to take a risk somewhere - weaken your locks if someone else is on the bench...
ARU press release just in:
Higginbotham, Timani and Ioane have been replaced in the preliminary squad by Kane Douglas, Ben McCalman and Nick Phipps.
Ioane will still be in camp as he recuperates from his surgery. Higginbotham and Timani's involvement in the squad will be determined after...
Posted this in Reds v Rebels thread but appropriate for this thread:
There is no way QC (Quade Cooper) will be selected for the Wallabies squad (IMO) and those two charge downs tonight were dreadful.
However, even with those two charge downs taken into consideration he outplayed the guy who has been...
There is no way QC (Quade Cooper) will be selected for the Wallabies squad (IMO) and those two charge downs tonight were dreadful.
However, even with those two charge downs taken into consideration he outplayed the guy who has been anointed as the Wallaby #10. That is not the result of an outstanding game by...
Sorry guys - 55/72 for Lilo is 76% not 71% as I originally typed. The 71% number is what he kicked in round 15.
Lilo got 0/3 against the Reds in round 1.
No. can't offer any stats that say Quade is the logical choice. He's behind on try assists, line breaks, turnovers and tackles completed and Reds are behind on tries scored. He's only ahead on offloads.
Reds attack isn't firing and the blame gets laid with QC (Quade Cooper) (and any other #10) when that...
After 15 rounds the possible Wallaby goal kickers stats in Super Rugby 2013 were:
Barnes 10/12 = 83%
JOC (James O'Connor) 40/55 = 73%
Lealiifano 55/72 = 76%
Whilst not a potential kicker for the Wallabies; Cooper 49/65 = 71%
