This 2 weeks will be a good test of where the Brumbies are really at. They've certainly improved since the Chiefs debacle but the draw has been very favourable.
Could not disagree more strongly on this. Ryan's kicking has been poor by his standards this year, but did improve last week. His service is the best in Australia and he is also the most happy in contact of all of the Aus 9s, defending as an extra backrower when needed. Goddard had a good game...
Holloway was close to the Tahs best but god that drop off the kickoff, after the tahs had fought back (partially on the back of his blind pass to put Edmed though), was incredibly poor and match defining.
I should declare that I can't stand Swinton and his ineffectual Terry Tough guy act but...
Could Kuenzle actually be better suited to 12 at test rugby than Stewart? Lot to like about him as a big body with skills. Much higher ceiling. Foketi the clear standout domestically aside from him, Isaac Henrys injury was disappointing though.
Reckon they're happy winning neither of those games?
Beyond my subsequent comments on the teams being basically evenly matched, I was pretty happy with Swain topping our tackle count and leading a lineout which unsettled the reds to the point they had to throw almost exclusively to the front...
Think he's referring to Noah's work returning kicks, and I agree with him. In general play at first receiver Noah has been better at playing flat when appropriate and picking his options, though our attack still lacks a bit of subtlety.
Righto then.
Which Brums lost their matchups? Uru, Flook and Petaia are the only three that clearly outpointed their opposite number. For the Brumbies both props (Ravai was very quiet after a big 15 minutes), R Lonergan, Lolesio and Wright all clearly had better games.
The other head to heads...
Let's not get carried away, but tonight was another demonstration of people getting ahead of themselves re Paisami. Heavy shoulders, runs hard but not a threat vs well organised/top level defences.
Tua was solid and as good you'd hope he could be without being anything more.
Where's the average out of interest? I don't know that they're below standard in more positions than Qld. Swain has copped a pizzling on here again tonight but one dumb penalty aside had a very effective 80 minutes.
Reds will be very flat they've burned the Forve game to focus on tonight and...
Brumbies d the difference, reds ran out of ideas. Bench forwards made a difference. Ryan Lonergan's best game of the year, great to see him step up when the pressure increased.
Real insight into where the Brumbies are at this year coming up. Big momentum swing to the reds from that breakout, feels like they could put a score on. Brums not out of it though.
Totally agree, tragic for Lonergan who had started very well but that's a classic halfback tackle trying to lock up the ball and absorb a powerful ball carrier. An accident.
Massive play from Lonergan. Brums have done well to hang on early and force the reds to play the game more on their terms with Tate reverting to box kicking more often than not. Petaia and Ravai threatening early but have faded a bit. Neville and Valetini massive for Brums, real presence from...
