I think the selectors have made some incorrect decisions particularly in the backs in both the 1s and 2s. Agreed Smirnotis shouldn't have been anywhere near selection and was probably picked on reputation. How Armstrong (K) wasn't the obvious choice for #13 in the 1s is also beyond me (unless he...
The Cranbrook side was well below par on their home soil. They are lacking some serious mongrel, particularly in the breakdown and the one-on-one tackling from the backs was really poor. Something coach Boyd i think will address at training this week.
Aloys on the other hand were impressive...
That's an interesting Hypothetical suggestion Open Side. Considering the players you mentioned, you can only guess Waverley's 1st XV would look something like this had those boys stayed.
1. Picone
2. Serhon
3. McKennar
4. Carr
5. Cooper
6. Makas
7. Cardasalaris
8. Smith
9. Naryan
10. O'Shea...
I don't understand how players like Kirkby and van Zyl can play only 1 rep game of footy and walk into the nsw sides when players like Makas (8) and Harrison (9) both put in dominant performances throughout the rep period. There must be some kind of bias going on there.

Waverley had more than a couple players return recently which earned them a victory against St Pats, a side Trinity lost to. I believe they also have a key back rower returning for round 1

Predictions for CAS round 1:
Knox's preseason form is too hard to go against this week v Barker, although no doubt the red outfit will put up a fight. - Knox
Despite Waverley's woeful preseason form, losing almost all their games something tells me they'll come up trumps against Trinity with...
I believe Jack Bassett graduated last year in 2013 and will not be returning. In which case i would have Barkley-Brown at fullback and Watson at outside centre, their natural positions. I would also predict Mclennan (T) wearing the no.1 jersey in CAS 1 this year
Cranbrook defeated Waverley at Queens park 36 - 7. They were without their NSW back rower Summerhayes. Although Waverley were also missing key forwards

With the likes of Cranbrook’s new coach, their cultural problem is likely to be turned upside down throughout the course of the year. Cranbrook’s opens side contains the winners of the U16 premiers of 2012 and 2013, proving a promising side in the opens competition. Despite Waverley’s...
