What's the word on form from the pre season games?
Waratahs look like they did well in a trial against UNSW and Goulburn.
Reddies beat Tumut?
I'd read the DA but there hasn't been an article about SIRU in weeks. Is it the DA not having a go or are clubs not giving them the stories?
What will the SIRU stance be regarding player selections for country week? Can you force blokes to play from SIRU to play even if they are ineligible to be selected for the next level?
In my early twenties I just wanted to play as much as I could but if you are getting on a bit this might not be...
Here's an interning one... I heard that Rogos contract at Easts didn't happen and he will be back coaching in SIRU? If true, you would think the phantoms may be getting a boost? The rumour that Vunibaka is heading to Leeton has been around for a while so this would make sense. Can anyone...
Well said Sam.
What are thoughts on the rep squads?
Just from what I know of the players involved, I reckon the country side will dominate the forward battle but the city backs are miles ahead.
Not sure who the country front row is but with the likes of Latu, Dowson, Hardie and Maxwell, they...
This is the attitude that holds rugby back from being as successful as other codes in the Riverina. It really gets me down. By no means were Griffith miles in front of everyone throughout the year, in fact by my recollection they lost a few games mid season. If they had gone undefeated and...
I understand there is some pretty fired up clubs down in the SIRU in regard to the new insurance approach by the ARU and the Brumbies. I thought I might provoke a bit of discussion with a few questions.
An Aussie rules club in a small club like Holbrook can generate up to $110k for match payment...
Interesting couple of comments above.
Firstly the SIRU coach this year was Richard Turnbull, who was not associated with any club. I believe that makes him independent.
Secondly as far as I know the only two players that didn't put there hands up for rep duty this year that would of been...
Saw on the SIRU Website that AGM is this Sunday- interesting topic on Agenda is Invitaion for SIRU to play at the Country C'Ships next year
Any idea if players would be eligible for the Cockatoos or would it just be an invitational similar to what happened this year with the Sth Aus side at the...
Compared to the other codes, the coverage in the DA is absolutely rubbish for the SIRU competition. What can be done to increase??? Sick of reading about the 3 AFL leagues and group 9 when there is no rugby to go with it
Completely agree mauler. Although I don't think it is completely the fault...
I just noticed that CSU have signed up with the Country Eagles. Does anyone know if this will help the uni teams with players? I would of thought because it's Brumbies territory they would use CSU Bathurst if they were going to use the uni to develop players. Anyone heard anything?
Ok so had confirmation last night that the player is 100% in for the weekend. I was a bit sceptical myself but apparently he has played enough games for thirds to have no dramas qualifying. Im surprised someone hasn't picked him although one of the posts was pretty close. Ha. Good to have a bit...
Looks like it will be a tough one for the Tahs this weekend. Not the worst thing in the world to be playing through. Look what happened in the Shute shield with Eastwood. Got some mail this morning that a former SIRU 1st grade premiership winning captain will be making his debut for the Tahs. If...
Went in for the double header and was very impressed. I reckon city have got to be short odds to take out the Romanos cup. That Cugenvan lad playing ten would have to be one of the best backs in the comp.I thought Tumut would of had the better of Griffith with Vunibaka and Rawaka starting off...
Ha. Very much tongue in cheek re Tuskers aiming for Romanos cup glory. No doubt they would of been aiming for the top tier and would of definitely not been making up the numbers had they got there. I like the current competition format but it definitely does not favour the slow starters.
Can anyone shed any light on why it's taken this long for Temora to pull there finger out? The tahs boys said they were tough as nails and attacked well last week and then they beat Reddies this week. A deliberate ploy to keep the Romanos Cup in Temora??
I know it is an outside chance but it would be great to see Young sneak into the top six. Massive improvement from these guys. Will be interesting to see if they have the muscle to go with Griffith.
