I heard from one of the players that the St Pats v Knox games this Saturday 22nd April are on Breen Oval at St Pats. 2nd XV at 10am, 1st XV at 11:15am.
I can confirm that the match on Saturday is against the Auckland u16 Schools team. The Auckland team has been selected from the two Auckland sides previously played by the NSW Schools 16s, which were selected from an eight-team Auckland rep tournament held recently. Although it has been mooted...
Oscar Schmidt-Uili goes to St Pat's, Strathfield.
I note that several squad players are missing from these lists.
I think they are all in the NSW Schools u16 team which flies out to NZ on 2nd October for an 8-day tour - including Dom Easy, Cooper Chambers, and possibly a couple of others.
I think it was the wrong call. The player in question was the St Pat's captain and no.7, a whole-hearted and very fair player. He was clearly trying to have the opposition player on the ground release the ball for his halfback to pick up. Should have been a penalty to Black in the first...
Not sure about photos AussieJuniorRugby, but you can order a DVD of each game for $30 (or multiple games for $50) by emailing Kerry Brady at NSW Juniors : kbrady@nswrugby.com.au
For mine this is one of the best rugby stories I've noted this year....
Maclean Dombkins.
First, he missed Sydney selection altogether.
Then hooker Kyle Devine pulls out due to a conflict as he is also selected in the NSW Schools 16s.
The Sydney guys overlook Dombkins again, in favour of Will...
In fact how are Easts involved in this scenario at all? Could it in fact be that it was Souths who were only interested in the 3 and none of the others? It seems a far more likely explanation.
QH et al : I cannot explain it any more simply. Souths were approached by Easts about THOSE three...
IS - I understand the point, and I agree with it. Seriously. I too have been critical of this sort of thing in the past. I believe these circumstances warrant the decision taken.
Souths did in fact do exactly what you suggest - went to the players who trialled and wanted to play reps first. To...
Inside Shoulder - it was no "amazing piece of good fortune". Like I said Souths were approached by Easts specifically with those 3 kids. There was no choice involved, other than take them or leave them.
Every kid got ample game time. Ask them. The coaches made sure that every player got to start...
Gents, it seems there are a number of assumptions being made regarding "phantom" players at the Junior State Championships. Here's an assumption of my own - you are specifically referring to the three Scots lads who played for Southern Districts.
If so, let me help clear up a few possible...
Bend Bind and Drive : I agree with your assessment of Nathan Zylstra, he's a terrific player, all class technically with a bit of mongrel.... The other two Scots lads that played with Souths at Mudgee were also VERY good. Halfback Sebastian Strang is as tough as nails with a brilliant read of...
Agree CatchnPass. Re: Mudgee, I note that of the four games lost by Souths one was against winners Gordon, the other three were by 1, 1, and 2 points....
IMHO there seems to be a disproportionate emphasis placed on the Gordon team in this forum of late. I understand that they won the JSC at Mudgee, and were clearly the best team there. But it doesn't necessarily directly translate that they are, from 1 to 23, the best PLAYERS in the age group -...
