    Shute Shield 2019

I would be interested in people's opinions of the red card that Will Houston gave to a woodies player with a couple of minutes to play for a deliberate knock down. It seems this law is now a bit out of control but may be my bias.

    Shute Shield 2017

Have watched norths twice in the last few weeks and was in awe at: *the speed of recycling - they play at such tempo with quick excellent service from the halfback that they don't give teams time to realign in defence *the line speed in defence - they do this all game and make it very hard...

Western Sydney Rams . NRC Official Team Thread

The fact that Eastwood is broke and hence did not provide funding to the RAMS has meant that in the last two years the RAMS have had little interest in the Eastwood players - despite them being Shute Shield Premiers in 2014 and 2015. This has been reflected in the RAMS poor results. As...

    Australian Club Championship

Not a bad game for a first hit out in 36 degrees. It will do both teams good to play such a hard game before the regular comp starts. Great hospitality from the Souths guys - they put on an excellent day. They talk about the ARU in the same non-glowing way they we do!

NRC Rnd 5: Melbourne Rising vs Greater Sydney Rams

Have watched all the RAMS games and am disappointed at three losses where they scored more tries than their opposition. The problem is that they don't have a genuine goal kicker i.e. a player who actually kicks for their club. Jai Ayoub does not do the kicking for Eastwood - last time he did...

    Waratahs 2016

Gunner You are right. That clip is of the pushover when both reserve front rows were on. But below clip is of the scrum penalty try when both scrums at full strength.

    Waratahs 2016

No. They played the Woods and it was Alaatoa and Orr in the front row at the same time. Loholea played second grade. And agree that Alan is going well.

    Waratahs 2016

Suggest those plumming for Orr and/or Ala'alatoa have a look at what the Woods scrum did to them last week.

    Shute Shield 2015

Just to add some context to those penrith scores, the second grade match was called off by the referee with 19 minutes left to play. I am told that the fourth grade game was also shortened because there were not enough players at kick off time.

Western Sydney Rams . NRC Official Team Thread

It is the VRG (which has Eastwood Rugby people plus others on it) that own the ground and many moons ago when the rugby club was in dire straits they entered into a lease with North Ryde RSL. North Ryde RSL get the food and beverage and gate takings whether its shute shield or RAMS. Woods...

Western Sydney Rams . NRC Official Team Thread

Pfitzy - Eastwood never made a commercial offer to be part of the RAMS as they don't have any money. They operate at half the budget of teams like Manly and last year ran at a $20k loss. They don't get gate takings or bar taking so would not get anything if games are played at TG.

    Waratahs 2015

Pretty poor effort from Tahs. They have a great first 15 on paper but are going to have big problems if they get some injuries. IMO the bench is pretty average and their next group who played at TG Milner on Saturday against the Brumby runners were woeful.

    Pocock Arrested

Pocock should stick to simple moral issues, like helping the poor in Zimbabwe. Any money or help he can provide there is obviously good and there is little downside. Unfortunately issues around energy use are very complex, as are issues around whether or not chopping down Leard St Forest for a...

Wallaby 31 players for 2015 RWC

Even though most of the problems are in the forwards I reckon there will be a major reshuffle in the backs by the time of the RWC. I think the three amigos will back together (KB (Kurtley Beale) at fullback, JOC (James O'Connor) on wing, Quade at 10). I don't think Chieka will persist with Falau at full back - way to limited...

Brisbane City vs. Sydney Stars - NRC Round 1, 21/08 @ Ballymore

It is not a surprise that Paddy had some troubles since he is an ordinary scrummager. He either stands up or collapses - rarely actually takes the weight and battles it out. Re the Stars - that was a combination of first grade Sydney uni (who came 3rd or 4th) and second grade Sydney uni (who...

They could have if they wanted to - gamesmanship?

    Shute Shield 2014

The rules still say that you play a man down if you cant replace each front rower once. The issue was that the Rats replaced the LHP once (voluntarily) and then the replacement got injured. So they have abided by the rules.

    Shute Shield 2014

Here is the eligibility rule. Not sure it sheds much light 33.2 A player shall not be eligible to play in a Finals Series fixture unless: (a) The player has played with the Club a minimum of four rounds during the Minor Premiership series; or (b) The player has been on representative...

    Shute Shield 2014

Lily It was explained to me but didn't really understand it. It has something to do with second and third grade teams (I think Warringah) in the two sets of Saturday finals being at different locations and so can't reserve). They therefore had to be shifted to one location.
