I was a spectator at the GPS athletics a few years ago and had such a great conversation with a Kings lad, who was a stranger to me but was welcoming and up for a chat. He told me that while at most GPS schools it's considered almost god-status to be in the 1st XV, at Kings the absolute goal for...
Yeah, he was. He was part of the coaching team of the 1's in 2015 and then head coach in 2016 when it was home and away.
Scots won both the 1's and 2's premierships for the the first time in their history in 2016 then backed it up in 2017 in the new shorter format. How much of that was because...
Kings v New 1sts is on, it doesn't follow the 2nds livestream, you need to go back to the main page: https://cluch.tv/rugbyunion/aagps-rugby/aagps-1st-xv-rugby/200263/
They'd have to play the last round in that last week wouldn't they - 24th or 25th September? Or at the latest on that Saturday 26th. I know Rugby is like a god at some GPS schools, but surely even they wouldn't drag it into Term 4 when the Yr 12's have their HSC exams on.
Boys in Yr 10 playing 1st XV isn't exactly common but it's not unusual. Will Harris is another recent one who springs to mind, and pretty sure Dan OBrien at Joeys was another.
I heard from someone who should know, that a bridging course over summer is enough to get you across the line and into the course even if you did Genny Maths, as long as you get the ATAR.
To an extent. Some schools encourage their students to challenge themselves and take the highest-level courses they are capable of, while others are quite active in making a high number of Band 6 results their priority. The Band-6 approach is a good thing in terms of making the school look very...
Smith has been brilliant for the overall rugby program at Scots. Obviously the opens teams have continued to do well, but the changes he's brought in to improve coaching and skills across all age groups and grades has been excellent.
I think with the Scots 16's age group the Glengarry factor...
It's not that uncommon for boys turning 16 to play in a 1st XV, it happens every year. This boy is apparently only 15 this year hence the interest/concern with him playing up in the Firsts.
Kids turning 15 would almost all be in Yr 9, and a few "young ones" who started school early would be in Yr 10. It's very rare for a boy turning 15 to be in Yr 11 and would only be there if he'd started school young and then also been accelerated academically at school.
I know, but Come on Ref was replying to my comment, so it was all related. Or that's how I read it.
Anyway, I was directing my comment to the assertion about the new Yr 10 superstar at North Parramatta, who is in addition to 2 who arrived in Yr 8 in 2016. That's all.
