    Melbourne Rebels 2024

That is the question. The Victorian Rugby AGM also occurred recently which uncovered some unexpected developments - could be related - not sure - they didn't produce an audited annual report but we know that Melbourne Rebels owe them over $330,000 - as they are listed as a creditor - not sure...

I noticed that one of the named liquidators for the Rebels quit today according to ASIC. Not sure what to make of that.

I don’t want to be a stick in the mud but if he was signed up last December, and told to submit his moving fees , and the directors knew they couldn’t pay up then they were trading while insolvent - I mean they had those notices from the ato in late November and a host of other bills they...

RA has wanted a centralised model for a while now. MR is now a centralised model. Players are contracted to RA, admin is done by RA. Not sure about game day operations, but those staff have been kept on for now. For a club that plays just 4 months of the year, do they need a team of 25 off field...

    Melbourne Rebels 2024

Let’s be clear , the former directors of Melbourne rebels are sueing RA . Melbourne rebels is now a shell of a company with no assets and no way to earn an income without their license. The players are contracted directly to RA who also holds the license . If MR win their case it will likely...

That's exactly right and that's the job of the CEO to generate revenues - if Baden wasn't up to it, then the directors should have replaced him long ago. They fell asleep in their corporate suite and let him run the club into the ground

My understanding is that a condition of having the license is solvency and that is why they had to hand it back. Whether RA would give it back to them is not clear.

Of course, if they slimmed down the 25 off field staff members, assuming a rough $100,000 per position, they could knock $1.5 m off. I mean, not to be too blunt, they have 7 staff in the High Performance department - haven't seen the results though; 7 staff in Consumer and Marketing - 7! the...

Scenario 1: Debts paid off by current directors to avoid bankruptcy and loss of reputation (what's left of it) - but where to then? Surely the old board are not reappointed. Melbourne Rebels are owned by Vic Rugby Union who surely would be trying to put together a new board and feelers out for a...

Even if a wealthy fool tips in $20 m to rescue the club today - that wont be enough to keep it running into the future unless they replace the ex board and hire a CEO who can develop revenue streams other than begging for handouts from RA or crazy rich people

I fear that Academy Movement Inc is his (Jimmy Orange) business and appears as a creditor to Rebels to the tune of $60,000.

I'm surprised more paid up members didn't appear at the creditors meeting. Next meeting is early March. You can go and register as a creditor and maybe get first hand information about what PwC are going to do.

Because they let their ceo get away with not going his job - he needed to bring in more revenue streams instead of whining about RA - that’s what the ceo does

Winning one game proves they are the best? I thought you had to win the comp to prove that - let’s go one game at a time

A couple of things: I accept the directors (actually lets be clear, all but one - not Gary Gray) have advanced the company money to support the club. It shows passion. But I have a problem with them receiving a notice from the tax office in late November - and while not being able to pay that...

One of the people who are listed as a creditor to Rebels - according to the creditor list, $60,000 is owed to Academy Movement. Academy Movement, founded by ex-teacher Jimmy Orange, has had soaring success re-engaging Victorian public school students from low socioeconomic areas through its...

It’s weird because the execs used to have a leased bmw . In which case it would be returned - why do o they own them?
