Guys - a few words from myself and Reg to sum up 2010 for G&GR and look ahead to 2011.

Thanks to everyone who's helped make it happen, which includes you reading this. Here's to a monster of a year for Australian rugby and G&GR.

Bring it on
We’re sitting on the cusp of a massive year for Australian Rugby. 2011 sees the introduction of the Melbourne Rebels into a restructured and re-energised Super 15 competition. More Aussie teams and more Aussie derbies provide an increased opportunity to get the ‘product’ out to a wider population/market. Follow that up with the Rugby World Cup, played in Australian time zones, and you can forget that 2011 will be the Chinese Year of the Rabbit – it’s the Year of the Wallaby for sure.
We at Green and Gold Rugby can’t wait! It has been a huge year for us and we’re chomping at the bit to make it bigger and better over the next twelve months and beyond.

Our mission
Green and Gold Rugby (G&GR) is the home on the web for passionate followers of Australian rugby. We are unashamedly focused on two key elements of that sentence: Australian and Rugby. You’ll find no other country’s or sport’s interest on our site. Our aim is simple - that any visitor to G&GR takes something away - be that a new understanding of the game, the warm glow of comradeship, or just a damn good laugh.

2010 – the achievements
In pure numbers, 2010 was mind-blowing. G&GR had 3.8 million page views this year, and last month alone we had approximately 46,000 visitors. We had more than 670 blog posts with 15,305 comments, and 2,301topics of discussion in our forum with 69,065 comments.
In 2010 we gained press accreditation with all but one of the Aussie Super 14 provinces as well as the ARU and RFU. G&GR was rated as one of the top 20 rugby websites in the world by the London Telegraph, where we also guest blogged throughout the spring internationals via founder Matt Rowley (a.k.a Gagger).
Remember the media storm about the lack of All Black yellow cards and cheating at the breakdown? That was us; the penalties per yellow cards stat, the video on YouTube (now with >50,000 views at http://bit.ly/kiwicheats) and the Bob Dwyer opinion piece.
We covered schoolboy games, women’s rugby, seven’s rugby, the Commonwealth Games, club footy, Super 14 trials, Super 14, test matches (both here and abroad). We’ve covered games where by it seemed the players outnumbered the spectators. The games the mainstream media ignored, but the diehard rugby was interested in. Will Chambers first start for the Reds v the Australian Barbarians; The QLD v NSW pre-season trial in Lismore; The Women’s National Championships; Club rugby in Parramatta. Hell, even the Shute Shield final!
With the ARU, Skins and KooGa we ran the G&GR Best Aussie Club Try competition, which had more than 110 entries uploaded to YouTube and >14,000 views. Robbie Deans will be coaching a session with Perth based winners Nedlands rugby club in 2011.

Going forward as a unique group
Like the internet as a whole, G&GR is now a force in Australian rugby that can only get stronger. Surely there is no site in Australian rugby with as many dedicated and motivated Rugby supporters.
One thing for sure though, with more professional rugby being played in Australia next year, and the RWC, Green and Gold Rugby will be THE place for rugby diehards to get opinion, analysis, interaction and laughs.
C'arn the Wallabies!

As an expat, G&G is the resource I turn to find out what is happening in Australian Rugby. The analysis is superb and the forum is full of entertaining comment... it is light years ahead of any other Australian Rugby web site.
