The Symonds situation always had something screaming "cover up" about it.
Is Michael Clarke perhaps the next Kim Hughes - I just finished Golden Boy and it was a great read. The author tries to tip a bucket on Marsh and Lillee, and to an extent the Chappells, but to me its really about the errors made by the ACB (as it then was) back in the day.
After reading the book, I will say that Hughes was better batsman - if flighty - than I give him credit for being, but not a captain, and whats more, the case was never made that he improved his captaincy skills over time, or even had the capacity to. Its a tragedy really, and behind much of the Australian cricket collapse of 1984 - 1988 (notwithstanding the CWC win in 1987).
