AUSTRALIAN RUGBY UNION chairman Michael Hawker insists there is no added pressure on Wallabies coach Robbie Deans heading into the final year of his contract, admitting the ARU was ''happy'' with how his side was travelling.

One thing is now absolutely clear. JON was not dragging the Board kicking and screaming to support Deans. There clearly is at least 50% +1 support for Deans as coach despite the diabolical play of our team and despite there being at least four ex-Wallabies on the Board.

There is now a major disconnect between the Board and the majority of Wallaby supporters.

This may be true, but how do we know?
In any event, the Big Tick might carry Lyme disease, which is no laughing matter.

My read on it is that the rusted-on supporters, like those who post on here, the Roar, SMH and Fox are strongly anti-Deans. I haven't done a post-by-post summation, but the vibe is that whereas it was 50-50 pre World Cup it is now strongly anti, with few posters anywhere posting strong pro-Deans comment. Perhaps its true that all the Deans supporters have just turned off the debate, but it would be unusual for so many to have gone so quiet. The Roar is very pro-Deans, but the posters aren't. Fox and SMH are too lightweight to have a discernable position but their posters are mostly anti. Without ANOP polling every rugby household there is no better indicator than the vibe, unscientific though it is.

Or is this statement from the ARU boss the usual statement "Coach X has the full support of the board. We look forward to having Coach X continuing to work with Team y for the rest of his contract" when they are about to announce that Coach X has been sacked.

How many times have we heard similar in AFL and NRL?
