SMH says some will be targeted for Olympic Games 2016 in the 7's program.

Who do you think ????

Obviously Gill, maybe Nick White, KB (Kurtley Beale) and Izzy.

Does playing overseas preclude players from, playing sevens (like in rugby)?

Surely if you were taking opensides, Hooper would offer more value to a 7s team. McMahon would have to be there too

the combination of fitness, skill and pace makes the ideal player. the first two you can work on, the last is largely a natural gift. i would be looking at the fastest outside backs around, but don't know who off the top of my head.

Foley is an obvious choice with his 7s experience.

The players would basically have to opt out of most of Super Rugby and the June tests to participate wouldn't they?

Will be interesting to see how Kellaway goes for the Tahs over the next two weekends. He could be good.

Going to be very interesting to see who puts their hand up that's for sure.

I think Will Genia, JOC (James O'Connor) and Hooper would be great.

McMahon was found wanting out in the wing when his opposing number ran around him to score couple of times in the Comm Games.

He would need to slim right down from his 15 man frame to regain his speed, or perhaps he had been growing still?

He was in the 7s team in 2013. That's only why I said him

McMahon, Foley, Phipps, Gill, Morahan and Coleman all have Sevens experience, and would need to be considered.

Are there others I'm missing?

Yep, Nigel has the kind of physique which is suitable for 7's, built like a back-rower but runs like an outside back.

I was expecting gill to star at the games, but he was a bench player given only a couple of minutes a match.

And produced one of the plays of the day with his clear out v wales to secure possession that lead to the winning try.

I reckon there's a lot more than those above that have played 7s for Oz. I know Ed Quirk did. I think Ant Fainga'a did too?

He wasn't 7s fit, but still played great with the minutes given. The fitness is a big reason why these players need to stop 15s and focus on 7s in the lead up.

Foley, Morahan, Gill, McMahon, Phipps, Coleman and Hooper are all very likely to cross back over in 2016. Maybe not all - depending on injury and how the 7s specialists are performing.

JOC (James O'Connor), Izzy, Beale would be great, but probably will not win the battle of contracts/remuneration from Super Rugby/test. Maybe Izzy could parachute in at the Olympics and be a huge impact player with a few minutes per match.

Hooper won't play due to his insane workload but wow what a 7s player he would be. One of the best ever I'd say given his skill set and ability.

Let's hope that one of them can kick conversions reliably, the extra two points can be really crucial in Sevens.
